Fox Faith The Adventures of Ociee Nash, DVD

The Adventures of Ociee Nash is a delightful and inspiring film you won't soon forget! Although nine-year-old Ociee loves roaming Mississippi's 1898 rural landscape, her widower father (Keith Carradine) feels that Ociee lacks a role model to help her become "a lady". So, Ociee boards a train to North Carolina, where she'll be raised by her aunt (Mare Winningham). Although Ociee meets heroes like the Wright Brothers and U.S. President, she ultimately proves that she, too, is capable of greatness in this heartwarming, rewarding film the whole family will enjoy. This film is based on Milam McGraw Propst's award winning novel A Flower on Charlotte Street. Rated G. Approx. 98 minutes.

I liked the film. 'Ociee' is an interesting story with unique characters and inspires you to learn about the historical figures she encounters on her adventure. Will need to talk to kids about some of the main character's behavior, because it is, after all, a story about Ociee growing from a 'tom boy' into a young lady and finding her unique strengths and place in life. She's somewhat rebellious, but shows courage when it really counts. Why is she called Ociee? Explained in the film and book. Good production and acting for a lower budget project. Winningham and Carradine are professionals and the little girl does a fine job. Not a big action film. Good for families, older children.

it was a great movie for all of my kids ages 5-10. They were laughing and quoting the movie when we were done watching it! We just wish it would've had more historical information and scenes & that it ended with more info. But I have a feeling it's one where the book is an excellent read with all the fill in information.

Nine year old Ociee is sent to an Aunt to be raised, so she might learn the ways of ladylikeness -manners. But in the end her unladylikeness( climbing trees) saves a life. Enjoyed the story.

We are trying to stop accepting the choices for children that our cable and network TV provide. I am thrilled that we discovered Christianbook.com. Both our children loved this movie. We love the positive message and quality of the plot.

You can be sure we will be adventuring further with Ociee as we use the cameos performances of history making figures, like the President, the Wright Brothers, and Nellie Bly as a jumping off point for further research.
Our family was drawn into this delightfully entertaining and moving story. Our favorite character? Well the gypsy of course!!! But we will always love Ociee.

Reminiscent of "Ann of Green Gables" and "Pollyanna." My husband really enjoyed the ending. (He just hates it when people will not believe the truth.)

Although I agree with the review stating that Ociee is a rebellious young girl, she also has come through much tragedy in her young life. She has also found her strength & courage to press on. A great story of perseverance with strong family values. Both my children (girl age 8, boy age 10) loved this movie when we rented it, thus I'm purchasing it now as a 'keeper'! Enjoy!

This is a perfectly delightful movie in the vein of Heidi and Anne of Green Gables. A tomboy gets sent to live with her Aunt to learn the ways of being a proper lady. She does learn to be more girly but in the end it's her boyish ways that earn the town's respect.
