Prayer is vital. Prayer is essential. Prayer is often neglected, however, because true prayer... life changing prayer... heaven quaking, hell shaking prayer is time consuming and a lonely, thankless, self crucifying necessity. Brother Ravenhill says that if we would hide away with God with nothing but our bibles and an unyielding determination to have Him glorified, then we would see a lasting sweep of revival in this land.

One of the most needed to be read books, from a man who truly longed for a true God sent Revival! Not easy to swallow, but for the church to get to the place for it to happen, it is a must read, but even more to be applied! Then God moves!

Leonard Ravenhill presents prayer as faith in action in this fast-paced presentation of this crucial subject. He called prayer the most essential ingredient in producing revival. I thought it was important to mention that because although a lot of what Mr. Ravenhill speaks of when he first wrote this book in 1962, was prayer that was geared toward a revival. I bought this book because of what he writes about on the subject of prayer itself. There are many books on this subject but I had some pastor friends of mine speak highly about this book and recommended it to me. I was not disappointed. The power of prayer (along with faith) is something that Mr. Ravenhill captures so eloquently and yet, so boldly that it will make you hit your knees in prayer as you are reading this book. It is powerful and passionate and will make you re-examine your personal prayer life and your church's. I definately recommend this book for every Christian, regardless of the stage of your walk with Christ. From the beginner to the pastor, this book will help you understand why prayer is so important and powerful that it alone can bring revival, even in this day and age.

This book greatly blessed me. It contains strong spiritual food -- something the Church needs. It's not for the carnal Christian unless they're tired of being wordly and lukewarm. Certainly woke me up!
