I really liked this book and I couldn't put it down! The author did a very good job of writing from Esther's experiences with the King. If you enjoy reading the story of Esther in the Bible you will enjoy this book!

This book has captivating descriptions and details that pull you into the story and really help to flesh out the intriguing story of Queen Esther. It is one of the best books I've read in a long time (and I read alot!). The sequel "Hadassah Covenant" is even better. Can't wait to see the movie.

This one of the best books I have ever read. Very pleasantly surprised.
There is a movie based on this book, and I found it to be very good. It's very accurate to the beginning of the book. However, as most movies based on novels, it doesn't completely own up. I watched the movie first and enjoyed it immensely; a good stand alone movie.
The book kept me mesmerized, difficult to put down. The detailed description of the times (all the way down to the cosmetics worn), the palace, streets, homes, life styles, etc. And God's laws, customs of the Hebrews, prayer, and much more about living for and following God's desires/needs of His people; how it was practiced in secret at times.......I could probably go on and on.....
The bottom line is a 5* novel that anyone would, at the least, enjoy and probably read over at least once.

I passed the books out to our youth group girls and showed the movie to the entire group. What a witness this movie about Esther made.

Since I know the book of Esther very well, i purchased this as a gift. The book's attractive cover compelled me to start reading it. Once I started, I could not stop even though I knew exactly what would happen. I was blown away by Tommy Tenney's carefully drawn studies of particularly Esther and Mordecai and the relationship of Esther and the king. Told from Esther's perspective, we see why she was so liked by the eunuchs and other candidates. We fall in love with her as Xerxes did. Tenney stays true to the Bible but adds so much detail that we are able to see palace life in Persia and feel the many emotions Esther must have felt. Loved it.

Okay, first off: the beginning and ending of the story were about this modern-day bride named Hadassah. I seriously didn't get why the heck the author included that in the book.
Second: There were a whole lot of sexually and morbidly graphic descriptions in the book about killings and the "one night with the king", not to mention the thing about the eunuchs. Some people may be able to overlook them, but the squemish should beware.
Third: This book was a big old disappointment! The movie based on this book is WAY better. I love the movie On Night with the King, but the book, not so much. I was expecting a more intriguing book than this. I was quite disappointed.
Some people may like this book. Some, like me, may not. To each his own.

Very interesting book. Creates a clearer view of life in the days of the Persian Empire. Women would do well to follow Esther's example of submission and love of her husband. A truly timeless tale.

I can't even give this book a 1 rating. It was very difficult to finish reading. It was way too graphic and violent for my tastes. It was a real downer to me and I was glad to finally finish it and put it down. I will not be taking a chance on any more books by this author. I like uplifting books; not books that give me nightmares and make me feel depressed and dread finishing it. Keep in mind there is only sketchy history here and most of it is the wild immaginations of the author. Way too much emphasis on sexual themes.

I loved this story. At first, it was hard to get into, but once I did, I could not put the book down. I loved how detailed it was, it was like you were actually there with Esther. For every woman of God, this is the best book I have ever read, I will continue to share the story of Queen Esther, and how God favored her.

An incredible beautifully told tale of a historic event. It shows that the number one thing to have, again that GOD emphasizes in the HOLY BIBLE-is LOVE will conquer all. After all JESUS blood did for us on the cross. Ester shows the same love and obedience that she was raised with.Lovely. My 13yr old son & 16 yr old daughter loved it.

I loved it...I could not put this book down. I am determined to give this to every girl and woman in my synagogue and pass this wonderful piece of writing on. Every Jewish girl can see herself in Esther. As a Jewish woman, I am proud to call myself a Jew after reading this book. If you don't have it, you need to order it.

I thought this was a great story. It was a little hard to get into but addicting once you do. There were parts that were a little too detailed, that I easily skimmed over. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction.

I'm so disappointed to have to give this book a zero, because it was so interesting! Unfortunately, it is much too graphic in several sections. I'm 17, and I wish I hadn't read it, even though it was an incredible story and one of the best written books I've ever read. I don't know why the authors write so graphically, but it makes it very disappointing for readers like me. I wish I could give this book a 5 for storyline, but it's not worth reading.

This is one of most beautiful stories written in God's Word. And Tommy Tenney did a marvelous job in rewriting it as a historical fiction verson. I couldn't stop reading it. I felt so close to Esther and longed to be closer to my Lord and King. I was brought to tears several times and rejoiced with her as she won favor with the King. A must read for every Woman of God!
