We love all of Saxon Math! I used it when I was in school and now I am using it for my kid's math classes. The way they can pick right up with it and the way the curriculum reviews sets it apart from other math curriculum we have used in the past. I would highly recommend it to anyone for any grade level.

gives good steady progress. increases speed in the basics with timed tests. problems with using it in being from the UK is that measurements, coins, temperatures etc are different. however, you can just adapt this and make it suitable.

I have used Saxon Math for higher grades in my homeschool and this is the first time with junior grades. I wish I had started with it. It is very thorough and my youngest son enjoys the variety.

We switched from Singapore to Saxon and I cannot say enough good things about Saxon. I just could not find a good way to teach Singapore in a way my 8 year old would understand. Now, my daughter is technically in 2nd grade, but I bought the Level 3 and it's a great fit. If you're not sure, there are placement exams to find out where your child should start. I love that the entire lesson is scripted. It's also VERY repetitious, but that is good for my daughter to make sure she remembers the basics even while we're learning new skills. Now we kind of modify it (in part because I have 2 other children to teach, and also because it is a VERY long math lesson), we don't always do EVERYTHING every day, and sometimes we only do 2 of the 3 worksheets they recommend(she has mastered basic addition and subtraction so we only do that occasionally for review rather than every day). So you can still modify it for your student's attention span so it's not quite so much work in one day. We love it!

Wish I would have used this with my other children. I've homeschooled my children for 12 years and this is the best math curriculum so far.

Saxon does a great job of teaching children math. The math principles are taught in a clear, easy to understand manner. Plenty of review is given to strengthen skills. I have confidence that my children will do very well in math from using Saxon.

Highly recommend this math. It's a great way of learning new concepts and keeping the old ones fresh. It takes a little bit more of parent/teacher time...but well worth it. My son doesn't hate doing math anymore. He also loves having the kit that goes with it too....it just makes it more fun! No boring repetition because you move from one thing to the next during each lesson.

It has been a great experience using this program. Have two of my children involved right now and they love it. The program is easy to teach and very interesting. The only thing I would not recommend is spending time doing the meeting strips. Its not necessary and I personally feel it is a waste of time.

I bought this for my 3rd grader who I started homeschooling. Saxon was used in our public school, and it really works great. Saxon does lots of review and the teaching instructions gives lots of questions and explanations to teach verbatim. I did not buy the manipulative kit, I use things around the house.

Used this to homeschool all of my children. It uses interaction and repetition to help students master basic math skills. This thoroughly prepares the student to work independently in the area of math. Well worth the time and effort invested!

I have used Saxon math with all three of my children. I found the levels 1 and 2 to be too easy, but they made math fun. By 2nd grade each of my children did Saxon Math 3 and I felt this level set them up for success. They learned their math facts well and once this level was completed they could work independently on math in the years that followed. One of my children took two years to complete the Saxon Math 3 program (2nd and 3rd grade). If you need to, take the extra time to master it.
It does require the one-on-one direct instruction by Mom each day at this level - but this is one that pays off for years to come freeing Mom's time up. If you are coming into Saxon late or trying to help a student who's in school, Saxon Math 3 is the year that's critical for future math success.
We are a family with very strong math skills - Dad's an engineer and knows the importance of mastering the basics in order to understand the more complicated. Saxon 3 prepares you well.

My son is a 2nd grader and I tested him at home before ordering Saxon Math 2. He tested for level 3 and is doing great. He is enjoying doing math for the first time in a long time. I would recommend Saxon math to anyone who is going to home school their children. My 10 year old is also using Saxon math.

I like the way it is set up and the amount of work is just right.
I have found in the past some of the answers in the teachers book to be wrong. So, I've had to watch for that. Non so far in this book. Thank you for working hard to make sure we have all we need to teach.
