Customer Reviews for Bethany House The Autobiography of Charles G. Finney

Bethany House The Autobiography of Charles G. Finney

In an age without amplifiers or mass communication, 19th century evangelist Charles G. Finney's ministry changed the course of American Christianity. His valuable insights on the work of the Holy Spirit and principles for revival now inspire and encourage 21st century believers with a passion for reaching their nations for Christ. Finney's autobiography was first published in 1876, a year after his death. This edition, first published a century later, was condensed and updated while retaining the heart of his amazing narrative, making the principles of revival easily understood by contemporary readers.

Absolutely fantastic! It is an amazing account of Finney's own revival and how God used Finney for revivals all across the East coast. What is missing from this book is his theological ideas on doctrines such as baptism, etc. The book keeps me guessing. I also want to know what people of his time believed him that was so at odds with Finney's views. Now I can't wait to read his lectures on revivals, which should shed some light on that. Highly recommend this book!

It was an easy read, yet gave me great insight into an age and event that I did not experience. His writing encourages me that we too can have revival even in this day.
