The fifty-three chapters in this work represent what Hoeksema actually preached in a series of sermons that one of his parishioners reported were "characterized by lucid, simple, and yet thorough exposition and...delivered with a warmth and fervor which kept a large congregation at spellbound attention Sunday after Sunday." The genius of this work is the way it explains this highly symbolic book of the New Testament. The author had the intellect to grapple with difficult passages and the ability to communicate so that the ordinary person could comprehend his message. Using sound principles of hermeneutics, Rev. Hoeksema showed whether key passages in Revelation should be taken literally of figuratively, which is where so many other commentators have failed.

Review 1 for Behold, He Cometh: An Exposition of the Book of Revelation
Before I start the review, I want to let you know that I am a student at a Reformed Seminary were we agree with the views shown here by Hoeksema.
This work, while not required my the Seminary to read, I was just learning about the reformed view on Eschatology; so I wanted to read from all of the great theologians. With that being said, I am glad that I decided to pick up this work by Hoeksema.
Hoeksema's writing style is beautiful and easy to follow along. His exposition on Revelation was really helpful in explaining to me the reformed position. Also, Hoeksema show's his position from scripture as this is a verse by verse journey through thr book.
The physical nature of the book is just as great as the content. First, it has a sewn binding, which means that it opens flat from the first to the last page.
Second, the pages are thick and white with dark bold print. You don't have to worry about eye sight with this edition; the print just jumps off the page.
Third the hardcover is very attractive and does not take away from the overall package.
Even if you are not reformed this work is done to well to pass it by.
