Imagine if you will, being in Texas just on the Gulf. It's the spring of 1861 and Amanda Bell is the oldest of four sisters and a brother she is helping to raise along with her father, Pastor Ezekiel Bell on their southern plantation. Her mother passed away and left Amanda tasked with raising her siblings until they are old enough to fend for themselves.

However with the rivalry between the North and the South, the stirrings of a Civil War is on the horizon and Amanda's only brother Daniel is willing to go to war to defend the South's position on slavery. What he doesn't seem to understand is even though they treat their slaves well, they are still not free. However Pastor Bell provides his blessing over Daniel as he heads off to war along with his childhood friends and Amanda is helpless to stop him.

When Amanda meets Captain Kent Littlefield during a church service, she finds her heart pulled in a way she hadn't expected. Now that the war has begun, Captain Littlefield has been called to duty fighting for the North, which now puts her at odds with the man she loves from the North, going to war with the brother she loves from the South. Will either of them return home from the war? Or will this war keep her love at a crossroads she can never hope to cross battle lines?

In the latest novel by Golden Keyes Parsons, His Steadfast Love, shows the horrors of what men, fathers, sons and families had to endure when our own country went to war against itself. In the end, lines were drawn and even when the war ended some feelings would never be resolved over what men had witnessed during their time of war. This is a chilling, fictional account of the Civil War that was waged in regards to the issue over men's freedom within our own country and along the way, God and love will prevail.

I received His Steadfast Love compliments of Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and was amazed at this fictional account of one of our countries bloodiest battles on our own soil and the amount of lives that were lost in the war. Amanda Bell is a strong woman character I could relate to, who was willing to put aside her feelings of duty to her family and learn to listen to her heart and God's word. I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and would recommend this to anyone who loves historical romance!

"His Steadfast Love" written by Golden Keyes Parsons is the riveting novel of young Amanda Belle.

Life was simple for Amanda and her family, until war erupted. The Civil War. Father against son and brother against brother was the fate of America at this shameful point in her his

Being raised southern, Amanda's family strictly believes in the south's way of life. Daniel, Amanda's younger brother, enlists in the confederate army to protect his home, rights and views. What pride the Belle's must feel for this brave young man entering into the bloody war that they hope to win! Amanda feels fear. Her mother's last wishes were for Amanda to care for her siblings when she died. How was she going to protect her brother out on the bloody battlefields? What's more, Amanda's heart is torn between her father's wishes and the man she loves. She has fallen in love with the enemy, a handsome Union soldier by the name of Kent Littlefield.

I enjoyed the richly entertaining plot of this book. Through out this read, I learned more on the Civil War period, a stain in our country's cloak of greatness. The author intelligently weaved appropriate romance and history into this book. Several questions, though, were left unanswered. agree that the author lacked to include which side Amanda Belle was really on. During the war, she seemed to sympathize with the slaves and the future that awaited them if they were freed.

I'd recommend this book to all who enjoy a well-written historical fiction novel. My reason for choosing this book, was for the fact that it covered one of my favorite eras and time in history.

    Book Description

The Civil War - a defining time of great sacrifice, change, and betrayal which determined the fate of the Nation.

It isn't until it comes into her very home that Amanda Belle must face impossible choices of love, loss, and loyalty.

It's the spring of 1861 on the Gulf Coast of Texas. Although Amanda never thought she would marry because of her promise she made to her dying mother, her attraction to Captain Kent Littlefield is undeniable.

When Texas secedes from the Union, her brother Daniel marches off to war to fight for the Confederate States and Kent remains with the Union troops.

Her heart is torn between the two men she loves and the two sides of the conflict. When she turns to God for help, Amanda expects direction and support, but hears nothing. Is God listening to her anymore? Where is God in the atrocities of war–and whose side is He on?

Amanda senses her life is at a turning point. But she must trust God to bring her family through the chaos that threatens her home, her family, and the beloved state of Texas . . . with her heart, and her faith, intact.

    ***

Although it took me a little while to actually get into the story, by the end of the book I was completely involved in the characters' lives.

This story speaks to the tough decisions in life where we may need to go against all we have ever known. Amanda wants an easy answer from God as to what road she is supposed to take. However she feels like God ins't answering her, even though maybe all he really wants from her is to wait and trust in Him.

His Steadfast Love by Golden Parsons is a Christian fiction book. It is available in both print and as an e-book. It is a book which chronicles the young woman, Amanda Belle, who promised her dying mother that she'd care for her younger brother and sisters. When she meets captain Kent Littlefield the spring of 1861, she cannot help but be attracted to him. However, when Texas secedes from the union, Captain Littlefield takes his place as a leader in the union army, while Daniel Belle, Amanda's slightly younger brother, joins the confederate army. Can anything develop deeper between two hearts who are worlds apart during four years of a brutal war which pits brother against brother and neighbor against neighbor?

Beautifully written from beginning to end, this book is a page turner. The landscape of the coast of Texas is woven throughout creates beautiful images, while the horror of a country torn apart creates agony in which the reader prays for a resolution. The deep religious beliefs on both sides create an added dynamic. I received this book in exchange for an honest review of this book.

His Steadfast Love, by Golden Keys Parsons, is the magnificent story of Amanda Belle and her family. Set during the Civil War, it certainly depicts family life and difficult situations occurring in that period.

Amanda and her Texan family welcome Kent Littlefield, a Union Army Captain, to their home as a friend before the war, but after the was begins, Kent becomes the enemy in the men's eyes. However, Amanda has fallen in love with him, a situation that becomes quickly complicated. Neither her family nor his family in Pennsylvania approve of their love for each other, making it even more difficult for them.

The story is full of information about family life during those war years, when everything was scarce in the south. It also accurately depicts the hardening of hearts and difficulty with forgiveness between the north and the south during and after the war.

It is a beautiful story. Anyone that enjoys Civil War Era stories will love this book. I would definitely recommend it.
