Review 1 for The Great Books Reader: Excerpts and Essays on the Most Influential Books in Western Civilization

It was like going into a fancy restaurant where they allowed you to taste all their best dishes. Obviously some excerpts were easier to read because of the author, but the contributors really helped you see what may of not been so easily understood at the first reading of those excerpts. Amazing to see what was in the minds of these writers 500/1000/1500/2000 years ago and how it really has helped shape our western mindset.

Great introduction to classic literary works. Virgil's Aeneid could use a brief glossary. Look forward to reading the entirety of some of the excerpted works. Very interesting to see the connection between early writers and the development of Christianity.
