I have read this book many times now, going back and highlighting and writing notes. There is so much information gathered into this book that you really need to take bite sized pieces in order to process them and work them into a doable method for teaching. This book will not only give you an indepth overview of Charlotte Mason's method, but will give you so much more to go off of. My favorite is the chapter on Mother culture; a real life saver for the busy mother!

I am a young mother who is looking for ideas on how to raise my children and homeschooling. I am very pleased to encounter with this book and the whole idea of home education of Ms. Charlotte Mason. Ms. Karen while explaining Ms. Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy, she also gave her own experience in applying these methods. It is truly worthy to read this book.

I love this book and the beautiful, classic illustrations throughout are delightful. I also enjoy the format with subheadings so I can skip through and find a paticular part. It is fun to read and I refer to it again and again, like visiting a friend for reassurance. Karen has a soothing low key writing style that is very pleasant and easy going - a joy to read. I have used the wisdom in it in my homeschooling and it has a permanant place on my bookshelf. Love it. Thank you, Karen!

I first heard about the Charlotte Mason method of education from my grandmother. As a young lady her mother had home taught her utilizing this method with great success. My grandmother scored the highest on her high school equivalency exam and continued to be a life long learner. There are many guidebooks on home education available today, however I have seen the proof that Charlotte's "the gentle art of learning" works. Karen Andreola has written the book in the style of having a gentle conversation with a friend over a cup of tea. I would highly recommend other books authored by Karen: A Pocketful of Pinecones, Beautiful Girlhood, and Simply Grammar.

This is my favorite book about homeschooling. Both Charlotte and Karen are wonderful mentors. I refer to it periodically when I need encouragement to persevere. I pulled it out yesterday and it was as if I were visiting with an old friend. The Charlotte Mason Companion is my #1 recommendation to any homeschooling parent, beginner or veteran.

If I could only have one reference book, I would have this one. When the days come of feeling overwhelmed, this book takes the edge off and reminds me that we need to step back from the noise and keep things simple!

Incredible book. I was looking for educational philosophy and found a parenting philosophy! It is perhaps the best book I've ever read on meeting the needs of children. I can't wait to implement the ideas. Thank you.

This was a very enjoyable book to read. It was a wonderful introduction to Charlotte Mason's ideas, and gave many useful suggestions on how to implement her ideas in our homeschool.
