A House Upon The Rock Reviews
Faithbook of Jesus written by Renee Johnson arrived last week. It is a devotional written for the twenty somethings age group. I need to start right out and tell you that I am not a twenty something...so my review is going to be a little difficult to write...Honestly, I really wanted to ask to send it back because I did NOT want to write this review.I am very disappointed in the book.I expect more from NavPress. If this is what young adults are reading, then no wonder we are losing the battle of Christianity in this country. Maybe I'm too "old" and along with that I will admit I'm old fashioned too. Our family reads meaty devotionals like William Jay, Spurgeon and others of similar cord. This devotional is at best, milk.I have sat on this review for 2 months now, and can not submit what I originally wrote because I fear I am treading on harsh criticism rather than being constructive. Therefore, I will just leave you with my first two paragraphs. I mean no disrespect to the young lady that wrote this devotional, nor to NavPress.Disclosure of Material Connection: Hate these, but apparently it needs to happen now...anyway, I received this book from NavPress to review. I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

Faithbook of Jesus is a A one-year devotion written by Renee Johnson who is passionate about discipleship, especially for those who are 20-something, her own generation. The book is not written to be a bible study, or a theological based teaching of the bible but rather a 20-something woman sharing her walk with Christ. Seeking to inspire others to seek a closer relationship with God.She is simply being honest in sharing what she learned in her daily walk, her seeking of God in her daily devotions. Renee is eager to connect with others in their faith journey with God. I have followed Renee for a couple of years on twitter and can tell you she is sincere in her desire to inspire others to seek the Lord and connect with God daily. She has a great passion to see other draw close to God. She has a real life filled with up's and downs and is very honest in her sharing of relationship with God.If you are a 20-somethings you can get some inspiration from reading this book, see a real persons dealing with life with God. Each day is a day from her life and the issues and struggles she was encountering and how she heard God in the mist of them. Two unique feature is at the bottom of each page Renee shares others one sentence contribution to the subject or verse. And she ask her readers to interact with her and others on her website, to enter into the conservation of the days devotion, to add their voice to the conversation, what God is saying to them. Renee has a wonderful personality and love for others, and for a first time writer in her 20's she has done a great job. If you are in the targeted age group of this book and are seeking a daily devotional, pick up a copy.

Review 3 for Faithbook of Jesus

Over the years, I have read many devotionals spanning the spectrum from Oswald Chamber's classic My Utmost for His Highest , to the small quarterly devotionals that can be picked up at almost any church published by Radio Bible Ministries. Most devotionals fit a relatively standard format of daily one page readings. Usually these readings are based on some section of scripture, and more often than not it rests on one verse. Faithbook of Jesus by Renee Johnson is no different. Faithbook.. is a fifty-two week, daily devotional that is specifically geared towards a "twenty-something" audience. As such, most of Miss Johnson's devotions are based around things that most young adults would be dealing with in this new millennium. Originally written for her blog, these devotionals have been edited and put in book form. She deals with issues that run the gamut from pre-marital sex to how we deal with the culture around us...For more of this review please go to http://www.nateysplace.blogspot.com
