Customer Reviews for Youth Specialties Purpose-Driven Youth Ministry

Youth Specialties Purpose-Driven Youth Ministry

From the church that brought you Purpose Driven Life and Purpose Driven Church is this book that gives you a plan to build a healthy youth ministry. There are nine components to the Purpose Driven Youth ministry model: perseverance, participating leaders, parents, planned values, process, programs, potential audience, purpose, and the power of God. This model for ministry is not based on one great youth leader and is not destroyed if that leader leaves the church.

Doug Fields has been in youth ministry for more than two decades and has been the Pastor to Students at Saddleback Church in Southern California since 1992. He is the author of over 30 books and holds an M.Div. From Fuller Theological Seminary.

The author has wonderful ideas that can be adapted to a youth group of any size. Great insight into a youth pastor/director's day to day functions. A must read for anyone involved in youth ministry - paid or volunteer.

This book is truly insightful. It transcends culture, which was a concern of mine in the beginning; however, after reading it, I can tell that it was truly God inspired. It exceeded my expectations.

This book is great for putting some direction and meaning into your youth ministry program. It can be used by seasoned youth workers as well as those who are new to youth ministry. It even adapts cross-culturally quite well.

Very good insight into a youth ministry, which is running in a successful fashion. Can be a very good springboard for you to develop ideas to implement in your own youth ministry. But most importantly, Fields puts the emphasis where it needs to be, on God and not on programming.

A great guide to Youth Ministry. Really good if you are about to build up a youth ministry from scratch, and offers well thought-through steps to take in a youth ministry. Also good for existing ministries that need a "face-lift" but remember that the examples are adapted for the target in Saddleback and not in your church! It's not a book to copy but to get inspired from!
