I thoroughly enjoyed all three of the Daughters of Silk series. Book four was promised but it must not have been written. Could anyone enlighten me? I'm very disappointed.

This book was great! I really liked how Linda Lee Chaikin told the story of the Huguenots truthfully and bluntly. This period of time was not a very pleasant one for French Christians, and I appreciate how the author does not make it less serious than it was. The story is told with much intrigue and suspense and weaves a magnificent plot, leaving the reader ready for book three. I recommend it to everyone!

If I could give it one, I would say this book deserves a sixth star, or even a seventh. Daughter of Silk was an A--this one was an A+. Why, you ask? Spiritual content--it was great! I literally sat in the hallway outside my aerobics class reading the horrible scene at Rachelle's church and whispering, "oh, no, oh, no!" And when I found out about poor Idelette--forget it, pal. I felt everyone's emotions right along with them, and found myself clinging to faith that God would make everything OK. As far as Fabien's rescue of Rachelle from that snake Maurice--ooh, I loved it! Rachelle's immature reaction to Fabien's leaving did disturb me, but her desire for revenge would have, unfortunately, been one of my vices in the same situation, and her other flaws just makes her more real. I loved the way this book challenged me to think and pray about some pretty tough stuff, but still had some serious creativity and romantic characters I loved. I cannot wait for book three!

Murder, intrigue, betrayal in the palaces of 16th centruy France. Catherine De Medici, the ruthless queen regent, plots to maintain her power while trying to rid the influence of the Guise brothers who are controlling her son, King Francis II. Rachelle is caught in her path while being the maid of honour to Catherine's daughter, Margo. Linda did an excellent job on the research of the time period and the emotions and the plotting of both the historical characters and fictional characters are well-written and believeable. I'm looking forward to reading the third installment of Linda's Silk House series in 2008.
