Bethany House 12 Steps for the Recovering Pharisee(like me): Finding Grace to Live Unmasked

We have met the Pharisees, and they are...us. In this book, John Fischer points out that Jesus defined the truth in such a way as to leave no one righteous - not one. We cannot be made right before God by being "better" than anyone else. Instead, by recognizing and laying aside the Pharisee in all of us, we can embrace the grace, gratitude, and joy of the spirit-filled life.

An awesome book that helps Christians to see ourselves as we really are. Helps put our attitudes into proper perspective. A copy of the book is being circulated in my SS class now.

This is an excellent book for a group study. We are using it in our adult sunday school class. The book is opening up an honesty which is both threatening for some and liberating for others. We ordered 20 and will need more. It is "feeding the hungry."

The title alone made me want to pick this book up! John Fischer has a way of wrapping a nugget of truth in humor and grace, and more than once made me laugh or cry. I have come face-to-face with my self-righteousness and judgment of others, and have also been reminded of the amazing grace and mercy God extends to me even now. This book came at just the right time in my life! What a great read!
