    The Promised One

    Nancy Guthrie

The Promised One provides a fresh look at the book of Genesis, leading women in discovering how its stories, symbols, people, and promises point to Christ. Over ten weeks of study, participants will see Christ as the agent of creation, the offspring who will crush the head of the serpent, the ark of salvation, the source of the righteousness credited to Abraham, the substitutionary sacrifice provided by God, the Savior to whom the whole world must come for life, and much more.

Each weekly lesson includes questions for personal study, a contemporary teaching chapter that emphasizes how the passage fits into the bigger story of redemptive history, a brief section on how the passage uniquely points to what is yet to come at the consummation of Christ's kingdom, and a leader's guide for group discussion.

Nancy Guthrie is the kind of author that brings out little gems that show a bigger picture of the book of Genesis. It is a must read for anyone that would like to explore Genesis. I have enjoyed that this book is an easy read and the format is easy to read while going through Genesis. I have look long and hard for books that delves into Genesis and that is exactly what Nancy Guthrie does.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Crossway Publishing, Inc. for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

I was looking for a Bible study that was more than a few lines and a poem. I like the format in that you first read and study scripture in oder to answer each question at the beginning of the chapter. She has lots of charts that compare New and Old Testment meanings. What is really nice is that each chapter contains a teaching section where the author explains scripture which helps to correct or reinforce individual answers to the previous questions. At the end of each chapter are stimulating discussion questions. This is exactly what I was looking for my personal Bible study, but this can also be great for small groups. It gives your brain a workout. Thanks Ms Nancy. Please continue to write more Bible Studies. I would like to see one on Ruth.

I am planning to teach a class, Jesus In The Old Testament, and I got this book to add to my research. But it is so thorough I really don't need any other resources except the Bible of course. I recommend this to anyone studying, Jesus' life, Genesis or Old Testament. It is an outstanding resource.
