I loved this book. If anyone has ever felt that God could not possible love them because they are not 'perfect' or that they had committed some sin that could not be forgiven, this book is for you. It is a story of God's great grace and mercy that he provides us as we struggle with life. I found this book inspiring

powerful story of wild ways and road to redemption
this book was eye opening and an amazing journey Andrew lead. I had a friend that was following down the same path this guy was and thanks to the Lord he too was also able to get his life straightened out and is doing wonderful in the military. I think it is hard to live up to the expectations of others. I can only imagine the pressure he was put under being the preachers child. While he had some wild years it was in thanks to his love of God that he was able to get back on the right path and lead others down it also. I think his story will be of great help to others who are needing love and guidance to get back on the road to redemption.
thank you PR by the book for allowing me to review this book.

Review 3 for The Secret Life of a Fool: One Man's Raw Journey from Shame to Grace - eBook
This is a very personal story told by the author about his life. The author is the son of an evangelist and spent some of his life running from his family and their beliefs. After reading this book you can’t help but see how much the Lord loves each of us and walks with us through life.
This book was very easy to read. The stories flowed well and will have you wanting to keep reading to see what happens. The best parts of the book are when the author directs you to the Lord. You will see over and over the Lords hand in his life and hopefully feel encouraged that the Lord is helping you as well.
I was very impressed with the authors’ openness in sharing his life experiences. He holds nothing back and because of that, really makes this book a page-turner. If you know someone who is struggling with a prodigal child or if you know a child who has walked away from Christianity this would be a great book for them to read!
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Review 4 for The Secret Life of a Fool: One Man's Raw Journey from Shame to Grace - eBook
Excessive drinking, addicted to drugs, illicit and constant sex. These sound like the kinds of things only kids from broken homes and disastrous childhoods get bogged down with, right? Good parents, who care for their children and teach them the truth of Christ can’t raise children who are messed up, right? Um, wrong.
Despite the best efforts of any parent, children are captive to sin until they find Jesus. Praying, diligent discipline, along with teaching children about the grace and mercy of God are certainly ways to support your child in making the right choices – but ultimately, they get to decide for themselves. When they choose poorly, it brings heartbreak, but praying for and loving your child is always the course of action.
Just ask Andrew Palau’s parents: dad is a prominent evangelist (Luis Palau) and mom is a faithful Christian who raised her children to love Jesus. Andrew Palau couldn’t see past the rules to understand the grace, though, and for 27 years, he lived as he pleased. Then, while on a trip to Jamaica with his dad and mom, he finally heard the truth that had been taught to him for so long. This book is his story, and it is told with brutal honesty. It is passionate and triumphant, as any true redemption story should be – for what we find at the foot of the cross is not slavery to a new thing, but freedom that cannot be known until it is experienced.
This book tells the story of exchanging chains of misery for glorious freedom in one man’s life. And it is one that should encourage parents everywhere – the Bible says that when “you train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not depart from it”. That promise is true for Christian parents, whether it takes 3 years or 30 for the children to understand. Keep praying and loving them, mom and dad. Be encouraged by the story of Andrew Palau.
