Tyndale House Hinds' Feet on High Places

Hinds Feet on High Places is one of Hannah Hurnard's best known and best loved books: a beautiful allegory dramatizing the yearning of God's children to be led to new heights of love, joy, and victory. Follow Much_Afraid on her spiritual journey through difficult places with her two companions, Sorrow and Suffering. Learn how Much-Afraid overcomes her tormenting fears as she passes through many dangers and mounts at last to the High Places.

Much like Pilgrim's Progress is for boys, this book takes the reader on a journey, along with a young girl, meeting people along the way that either hinder or help in her walk. An excellent read.

I have read this book many times over the years and it has always spoken to my heart. It was time to have another Women's Study and I thought this would make a wonderful resource for our gathering. The allegory is simple, yet profound and we have found many teaching moments through its story. I highly recommend it.

When I was in my mid twenties I read this book and it's sequel Mountains of Spices. It was great in helping me understand who I was and what my roll is in the Christian family. I feel that any young adult would benecit from readings these books.

I read this book years ago, bought more and gave them to friends. I dearly love this little book. It has gems and treasures within its pages that anyone on the journey with the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ, can and will appreciate. Recently, I picked it back up again for the season of life where I find myself, and once again, I will be purchasing more for family and new friends to bless them.

This beautiful allegory carries on the tradition of John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress in the story of Much-Afraid, a servant of the Shepherd who lives in the Valley of Humiliation, held captive by her Fearing Family. One day, the Shepherd invites her on a journey to the High Places, where she would be free forever from her Fearing relatives. Through fears, trials, and many altars on which Much-Afraid places her will, fears, and everything else that holds her back from following the Shepherd, she becomes stronger, closer to the Shepherd, and is turned into a much different person. I found this classic to be a wonderful addition to my overflowing desk-top library. The allegory is fantastic and very true. I found it extremely relatable and it high-lighted many great truths. This version does have quite a few typos, but the beauty of the story probably outweighs them. I was captivated by Hannah Hurnards most beloved classic.

Warning this woman is a heretic

Despite this awesome witness, later in her life Hannah showed the ever-lurking danger of trusting inner voices. She veered away from sound doctrine, embracing universalism (denying God's wrath), pantheism (God is everything) reincarnation and many new age ideas. Her last book is sold in New Age stores.
She was trained by the Keswickians in a perverted view of sin and perfection and this is reflected in her books. It is subtle like the devil so many may miss it and be influenced to err in their thinking. As you can see by her end she was never truly converted and died a heretic disbelieving the God of the Bible and what he told us.

This is an awesome book... it's must read all Christians. I loved this book so much that I'm giving it out as a gift at my women's weekend. Just awesome... it spoke and confirmed many things going on in my life right now. I will make this book an annual read for me.

This is an excellent book. I read it about once per year. This year however I am on about my 7th read. There are many things God is showing me in the allegories.

I have read this book for over 25 years. It's probably the most read book in my collection. I read it at least once a year and marvel each time at the lessons I learn and or reinforce in my life. I would more than recommend this book to anyone. I would highly encourage you to not miss the blessings God has to share with you. I buy copies all the time and put a note in the front saying to "Please read and pass on".

As allegories go, this is one of the better ones. It was helpful to me many years ago, so I gave it to my daughter to help her better understand how Jesus walks with us as we live this life.

What a powerful book! I read it at a hard time in my life and it has been such an encouragement to me! The portrayal of the Shepherd as Christ was done so well! The book was written well and portrayed the struggles of the Christian life so accurately showing the assurance of our Saviour through it all!!!

This story of Much Afraid is one that resonates with most of us in that it brings heart issues up to the surface in such a way that you realize Jesus desires to change them, and indeed, can change them. The character names themselves, Craven Fear, Dismal Forbodings, Mercy and Much Afraid make the story ours. I have recommended this book over and over again, to new believers as well as aged ones and have read it many times myself over the years and made new discoveries each time, and been encouraged each time. It's all about the journey.

I read this book to my children when they were young teens. One was interested in reading it again as it brings back memories of those special evenings. I am happy there is a place on line to purchase books at discounted prices when available. Thank you for your service. God bless.
