Scholarly and practical. Gives insight into understanding cultural elements that affect proper understanding, interpretation, and application. Useful to the old preacher to the new Sunday School teacher.

Green provided me with a number of good thoughts for a Bible study on a passage in Luke. He is a worthy contributor to a fine set of commentaries.

A fresh approach to the gospel of Luke, Green's commentary was very insightful and helpful in my understanding of the socio-religio-politico environment of Jesus' day. He brought out details of the gospel that I had not seen before, such as Jesus' condemnation of the elite, the powerful, and those that thought themselves better than the "sinners" that Jesus came to save. An excellent commentary if you are looking for help in understanding the factors that Jesus had to deal with. I highly recommend it!
