"Each one of us has a supernatural destiny. We are called to be world-changers and historymakers, revivalists who are called to bring the Kingdom of God to Earth through the manifestation of God's goodness and kindness, demonstrated in signs and wonders, miracles, healings, and prophetic insights that call out the gold in people and reveal the good plans and purposes that He has for each person." To do this we must take some risks.

Are you a risk taker for God? Risk takers believe that anything is possible. If you need encouragement to step into your supernatural destiny and to manifest the works of God in your life and in others, you need to read The Risk Factor by Kevin and Chad Dedmon.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It not only motivated me, but inspired me. If you are looking to step out of the ordinary and into the supernatural, but have felt held back by fear or intimidation, this is a must read for you. Even if you have already stepped out into the deep with God, this will encourage you to keep walking on the water and to impact even more lives for Christ. This book written by a father and son team will give you the boost that you need.

We are all given gifts by the Lord which we are called to use to make a difference in other's lives, but we often hesitate to use these gifts. Without taking some measure of risk, we may never reach our full potential or destiny in the Kingdom. "We must exercise a certain amount of risk in order to step into the supernatural gifts that empower us into our supernatural destiny." It is necessary to demonstrate our faith through risk. Reading this book will encourage you to step out of yourself, to take risks for the Lord, and to help others in your sphere of influence to develop a culture of risk. It will ignite a fire in your spirit to do more for God.

This book, written by father and son Dedmon has really inspired me to walk in faith and watch for the supernatural things God has for us. Learning to recognize them is one thing, but then step up and act on them is another. After reading this book, crossing the chicken line feels different. Before I read it, I had never laid hands on anyone and prayed for healing. While reading it, God has placed 3 people in my life that asked me to pray for healing. Nothing has happened yet, but I took the risk and was not afraid to fail because from the book I now know God will reward me for having taken the risk.

I hope my review encourages you to buy this book. It is a great book. Once you start, you don't want to stop.

I highly advise against reading this book at bedtime. Unless you're not interested in sleeping.

Risk Factor has a singular message: Faith is about taking risks, stepping out into your destiny, "crossing the chicken line." It really is more of a motivational book than informational. But in a world that is inundated with information and often lacking in motivation, this book brings a level of accountability and challenge to our faith walk that is not often achieved by a mere book. The stories the authors share are more than just inspiring--they are active, living testimonies that can change your life.

Am I going to say now that "Every Christian should read this book"? No. Not every Christian can handle this book. In fact, there should be a warning label on the front that you won't be able to sit still while reading this book. When you realize that God is not as interested in success as He is in the willingness to take risks in faith, you might start doing things you've only dreamed about.

Are you tired? You can read Risk Factor and take the challenge of faith. Or you can get some sleep. But I don't think you can do both. Risk Factor is like coffee. Read it in the morning to start your day off right, but don't read it at bedtime or you'll never get to sleep. Learn from my mistake.

Kevin, and his son, Chad are high-impact men — meaning they live their faith like they live their lives — by doing crazy, radical stunts. The heavenly rewards they reap are equally radical. It's exciting to read testimony after testimony and I challenge anyone to read this book without becoming stirred up to step out in faith. It really is a lifestyle for each of them.

A few times, I felt the authors (particularly Kevin) were too rah-rah, and made the assumption everyone is like them. On page 29, Kevin writes, "we watch adventure films of people skiing down cliff faced on the verge of death or riding a 60-foot mountainous waves that could kill them at any moment. Most of us watch those films with envious admiration, thinking we would love to have the courage to attempt these death-defying feats." I have the sort of personality who doesn't need much convincing to step out in faith where the Spirit is leading but I think Kevin is projecting when he states most people are envious of death-defying feats.

In the beginning of the book, they state (and follow through the rest of the book) faith is spelled r-i-s-k, as per John Wimber. In some cases it is true but often faith is slow and steady. Many times in reading the book, I could have misunderstood God is only pleased when I take crazy risk. That simply is not true. One cannot exchange the word risk every time the word faith shows up in the Bible. I understand the point the writers are trying to communicate but their over-exaggeration causes an equal but opposite reaction in me and I have to remember to 'test everything, and keep what is good.'

In the introduction, the writers note each one wrote their own portion without collaborating with the other. The trouble is it made some of the writing redundant, and the book could be boiled down to 2 or 3 chapters.

I enjoyed the book and the over-exaggeration and redundancy aside, the testimonies from each Kevin and Chad are inspiring. In particular, I appreciated they both included testimonies of when they failed to see God's manifested presence. Somehow it makes me feel better when "spiritual giants" such as Kevin and Chad don't always get it right; I feel less pressure on myself as I'm learning to take big steps of faith.

I was particularly challenged by an example by Chad on page 153. He tells a story where he prayed weekly for a man with cancer over the span of a several months. He says God asked him if he was praying with the same amount of faith as he did when he first prayed for the man. I am encouraged by Chad's vulnerability in sharing this story and it reminds us that not faith is not always extravagant risk but it is sometimes the quiet perseverance never waivering in our belief that God is good.

Overall, this book is a solid read with good technical writing ability and enough testimony to get any reader pumped and ready to take on their own steps of faith in the pursuit of expanding and releasing the kingdom. I give it a B- grade.
