She faces two enemies-superstition and greed . . . Cheney Duvall has proved herself as a true doctor to those 200 brides with whom she traveled to the West. But arrival in Seattle with a string of medical successes during the voyage does not open any doors for her in this frontier town-she's "just a woman." Returning to the East, she finds an invitation to a remote spot in the Ozark mountains where there are no doctors at all. But she runs into walls of illiteracy, superstition, and immovable distrust of Yankees-most especially focused on an "edjicated female thinks she's a real doc." How will she overcome centuries of hate and mistrust?

Customer Reviews for Shadow of the Mountains - eBook
When Cheney moves to Arkansas with her nurse, Shiloh, she is not expecting what she finds. A "harb woman", whom all the mountain folk call on for their doctoring, a huge family feud, and many superstitious beliefs. She needs to prove to them that she can doctor, but not many give her a chance. There is a few dramatic scenes where people get shot and it does go into enough detail. This book has both romance and suspense. Great book!
