This tiny primer is a reprint of the 1777 New England Primer for "the more easy attaining the true reading of English". Designed to combine the studying of the alphabet, vocabulary, prose, poetry and the Bible, it's thought to have been the primer used by most of the founding fathers. Children's prayers, upper, lower and italic alphabets, syllables, traditional biblical couplets for each letter of the alphabet, catachisms and more are included. Approximately 5.75" x 4". Gold-embossed, maroon fabric hardcover.

I purchased this book on an historical level but have enjoyed seeing the material that was used to teach our founders. Very good book for my collection. Anyone interested in how our founders were educated should purchase this book and any other relevant material. This site has a wonderful selection and most will lead to further such books.

I thought the size was perfect for little hands but I was disapointed that the letter J & V in the alphabet picture's were missing. The price seemed fair to high.
