After a very long search, I finally purchased this course for my daughter. She's doing very well with it. It involves a lot of memorization, but this is typical for early history courses. The research questions provided for each unit greatly expand the course beyonf the memorization.

My daughter loved this curriculum and asked for the second year. It was very easy to follow and we enjoyed it very much. It is very easy to adapt this curriculum to your child's learning style! We look forward to using the 2nd level!

I chose this book because we enjoyed The Mystery of History so much and they have the same publisher. This was a mistake. The text is very dry and focuses on memorizing dates of battles and names of generals. By the end of the year, my kids had forgotten all the dates and names and really didn't know anything new about American History.
