Review 1 for A Christmas for Katie
A Story with the Real Meaning of Christmas
Date:February 17, 2014
I've read a lot of Amish fiction, and when I started to read A Christmas for Katie and saw that one of the main characters was a 6 1/2 year old Amish girl, I wondered what I was getting myself into. Most of the books I've read have had the story from an adult prespective, and here I was going to read something from a child's point of view as well as adults. Well, I must say - I'm glad I read this book. It's amazing what one can learn from the eyes and mouth of a child. Katie showed the true meanings of love, faith, hope, prayer, and Christmas. And she brought together a town to feel those things as well. And throwing crazy old Mrs. Jensen into the mix livened up Jacob's Crossing. Katie's prayers/conversations with God were precious and came from her heart. All of the characters in this story learned a valuable lesson from a child. This book gets 5 stars from me. A wonderful Christmas story portraying the real reason of Christmas with laughs, tears, and love.
