My 3rd grader has been doing the Wordly Wise for several years. So, when I purchased books for by K daughter, naturally I was drawn to this program. It is wonderful (at least at the higher grade levels)! However... read the fine print and entire description of the program. THE TEACHER'S RESOURCE KIT IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE K PROGRAM. Add another $65 or so to the affordable cost of the workbook and ta-dah you'll have a great K program... at least in the area of vocabulary. Or... better yet, read to your kids and discuss words as you encounter them all for the cost (FREE!) of a library card!

The kids are enjoying this series. It is a good resource for the kindergarten level. I have more than one child so the purchase of the teacher's resource kit made it worth while. Please note, you cannot do these books without the teacher's manual.

This is a *FABULOUS* vocabulary program for kindergarteners! Yes, you do need to purchase the Teacher's Resource Kit, but it was so worth it! This is the only language arts for this age group that focuses on learning new oral vocabulary (all the other LA components at this age usually focus on learning to read or write words that students are already familiar with). My daughter is hard-of-hearing and has some understandable 'holes' when it comes to the nuances of language; especially things like multiple meaning words, idioms, words in different contexts, etc. This program has helped us indentify and fill so many of those holes this year, plus the words are choosen based research showing vocaulary needed to be succesful in higher level content specific areas. I had asked our deaf ed. professionals about ways to be sure that the neccessary holes were covered and they didn't have anything to offer me. This program has helped put my mind at ease because of its systematic approach to vocabulary instruction. On top of that, my daughter loves it! She asks for 'story time' and since she liked it so much, my older son has asked if I would use Wordly Wise with him next year. Don't let the required teacher's materials keep you from missing out on this great program!

So disappointed that the stories did not come with the first grades, and you can't just buy them you have to spend $60 on the entire "Teacher's Resource Guide". It is a great book for teaching vocabulary, but I guess I will have to spend the extra time to make up my own stories with the pictures....disappointed.

I returned this item. The stories are not included in the book. You must buy the teachers pack as well. Not a problem except it is like $60. The older grades have the stories included. You only need to purchase the answer keys at $3.00. A little more reasonable. We'll stick to the older grades
