I purchased this item as a gift and opted to have it personalized with the child's full name. I was very please with the quality of the Bible and liked the box it came in. I was however a little disappointed that there was gold embossing ink smudged below the name.

This Bible is beautiful and a great Catholic Bible. The attached book marker ribbon is pink. It does not say that in the description. I had it personalized on the front and it is gorgeous. Perfect for a Catholic girl/woman.

I purchased two of these bibles. one for a girl and one for a boy. When I received them I was disappointed to find that the ribbon was pink, not a suitable choice for a boy. It would have been a better choice if it was a gender free color. I do not feel I can present the bible to the boy for obvious reasons. Unfortunately I had the bibles personalized and most likely cannot be returned. Also the print was very small and might be difficult for some youngsters to read. Some pictures could have been included as well.

This was everything I had hoped for. It's hard to order on line - not being able to see the quality of your purchase but took a chance and was pleased with the quality, the price, and the speed in which I received it.

I have been very excited over the past year or so to see that Harper Collins has published new editions of the NRSV Catholic Edition. This edition is notable because it fits nicely in the hand when reading, as well as being a good size to take with you on the road. This, however, is not a compact Bible, yet it is smaller than a typical standard medium-sized one. (This is nice, since the print is not too small.) In addition, the cover is very flexible and durable. What make this Bible even better is the additional material at the beginning. It includes reading guides, introduction to Catholic Spiritual life, a cool picture of Pope Benedict XVI, Maps, chronology of Catholic history, reading plan, and introductions to each book of the Bible. (What makes the book introductions useful is that they contain information as to when the particular book is read during the liturgical calendar.) Of course, at the end of the book is a handy concordance, which can be helpful at times. If there were two things I would like to see added in future editions, they would be scriptural cross-references and a list of the 3-Year Mass reading cycle, at least for Sundays and Holy Days. But overall, if you are looking for an everyday Bible that you can use for helping your prayer life, this Bible certainly fits the bill. It would be great to see Harper Collins continue to publish fine Catholic Bibles like this one, perhaps even a Catholic study Bible to compete with the Oxford editions.
