In this study, Dunn examines the first-century origins of Christianity in the light of the twentieth-century biblical criticism. In this important apologetic for the Christian faith, he demonstrates why believers should welcome, not shun, the critical and investigative skills of scholars. Dunn focuses on four main questions: Are the gospels fact, fiction, or what? Did Jesus claim to be the Son of God? What did the first Christians believe about the resurrection? Was earliest Christianity one church or warring sects?

this small sized study (bout 100 pages) by Dunn, maybe small, but is not lacking in sharp sense. takes a level headed, realistic historically scholarly introductory look into : the gospels, fact fiction or what; jesus the son of god?; what did the first christians believe about the resurrection; earliest christianity, one church or warring sect. excellent study.
