I cannot begin to adequately express my disappointment with this CD-ROM version of the NISB.To begin with, it uses the NRSV translation which has been "modified" to conform to current societral standards of "political correctness". Modifying the translation for this purpose is patently absurd and is an insult to our Creator God. Having said this, the NRSV is still a good translation - infinitely better than the "paraphrase" versions which pose as translations but are, in fact, just one person's (or one small group's) notions of what they wish the Bible said but did not. Overall I would rate the NISB is quite good insofar as the content is concerned. But my greatest concern is the hopelessly arcane software that is used for this product. I have used literally hundreds of software programs (for both Mac and PC) over the last 20 years. Never have I encountered a more user-UNfriendly program. As far as I'm concerned, this CD-ROM version of the NISB is absolutely useless. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate it as a -5. This product is a total waste of time, effort, and money.

Further to my last review, I contacted the company re: vista and they sent me a complimentary copy as I believe they will for anyone upgrading from xp. This second contact was excellent and service was exemplary. Now if they would only let us download the program to our computer for quicker and quieter access!!

The content is great. The delivery is so-so. I also have the Oxford Commentary which I was able to load on my hard drive. Much faster, less noisy etc. When I contacted the company to ask if I could load it on my computer the person who responded was rude and basically told me to like it or lump it. Pretty much the same attitude when I asked about Vista...Not sure I will buy from them again despite the quality of the authors product.

This could have easily gotten five stars, however having to run the program from the CD is and unnecessary hassle. The inclusion of the Interpreter's Dictionary of the Bible is a real nice touch. If keeping the CD on hand so you can use the program doesn't bother you then it is a very nice resource that is pretty easy to use.
