Great reference book for preachers. A conscientious preacher may want to read at least one article from it per week -- to keep preaching fresh. The book offers a wide variety of helpful sermon-related articles. "The Art and Craft" is of particular interest to experienced preachers, especially to those who are prone to follow Haddon Robinson's "Big Idea" preaching philosophy (set forth in his basic text "Biblical Preaching").

A good table of contents helps the reader go straight to an article of interest. I've been reading preaching books for over 30yrs. and have found Haddon Robinson to be perhaps the most helpful when it comes to understanding and communicating biblical texts. To date I've read about one half of "The Art and Craft of Biblical Preaching." If the second half is as good as the first, I'll keep my bible in one hand and this book in the other as I preach from week to week, while striving to be fresh and relevant for a Savior who is infinitely both.
