Christian Liberty Press Streams of Civilization, Volume 1

Most history textbooks are written from a secular viewpoint, but this introductory text is different! Providing a comprehensive look at Western, African, and Asian civilizations from creation to 1620, it affirms the biblical view of creation (though it discusses evolution) and gives your kids insight into other cultures and religions from a Christian perspective. Includes vocabulary questions, exercises, maps, and black-and-white illustrations. Ideal for grades 9 and up. 410 pages, hardcover from Christian Liberty Press.

I bought this as a support for a core curriculum. I have not used it as it is for the upcoming fall. I did peruse the content and am pleased that the introduction teaches that evolution nor creation are scientifically proven. The text covers a lot of background information for civilizations. I will update this review as we delve more into its contents.

I bought this book as a replacement for one that I had several years ago and sold...now wishing that I hadn't sold it! My tenth grader is using it and it meets our needs for his history course. I prefer Christian Liberty Press books in general. I also prefer books that teach both creationism and evolution for the simple fact that my children need to know what else is taught "out there" even if we don't agree with it. It helps to provoke us to discuss why and what we believe.

This history textbook is an excellent value for the price. It has a Christian viewpoint of history, but focuses mostly on Western development. There are no review questions or answers, so students must take their own notes as they read. Tests cover picky details.

This is a wonderful History resource and I plan to use it as a textbook next year. It is so valuable to be able to teach history from a creation/Christian perspective. This type of book is worth buying for anyones library.

Not bad for a text book. :-) Actually almost our favorite Universal History textbook. (Our fav is actually over 150 years old and out of print.) We have this, but don't use textbooks, so it sits on the shelf for use as a history "encyclopedia" when we need it. Does just what it says, teaches all of history from a Christian perspective. If you are looking for a Christian textbook to use either as is, or as a springboard (spine) for deeper studies in certain areas, this is a good one.
