This book has a good story, although I would have enjoyed it more with a little less of the predictable doubts and thrills of romance, and a lot more of God's Word applied in daily living.

I have very much enjoyed this book. It has reminded me to be the type of person that Gwen is. To trust God and to go to Him. It has helped me today in the issues I am facing. Yet it also speaks to my romantic heart and my dreams of love and rightness.

Great read. I got the free ebook, thanks! Prepare to buy the sequels. Sell written with engaging characters. Twins separated at a young age grow up very different. One is very feminine the other a tom boy yet you find them both to be enjoyable characters.

This was my first book by Robin Lee Hatcher. It was a nice book and easy to read. The characters were easy to love, but the story was very predictable.I'm not sure yet if I'm going to read the other books in series.

Set in the early 1900s, in Bethlehem Springs, Idaho, twins sisters Guinevere and Cleo are making up for lost time. Guinevere, or Gwen as her friends call her, grew up with her Mother surrounded by education, culture and training. Her twin sister Cleo grew up with their father and is a self acclaimed tomboy. Despite growing up apart they have a close relationship.A Vote of Confidence begins with Cleo suggesting that Gwen should run for the upcoming Mayor election. The only contender so far is Mr. Hiram Tattersall who is known to frequent the bars at all times of the day. Only because of Gwens love for her town, did she decide to throw her hat into the Mayor race. What Gwen didnt count on was bachelor Mr. Morgan McKinley throwing his hat into the Mayor race also. Morgan McKinley is also busy building the New Hope Health Spa, in hopes of catering to the rich and poor. Morgan finds he is falling for Gwens charms and persuades Gwen to give him piano lessons. In the midst of this budding romance someone is trying to sabotage Morgans New Hope Health Spa. Both Morgan and Gwen find themselves questioning decisions they have made and had to learn to trust one another, despite past broken hearts.Robin Lee Hatcher made these characters come alive. I found myself smiling while reading this book. It was a relaxing and enjoyable book. I look forward to more of The Sisters of Bethlehem Springs books.

A Vote of Confidence by Robin Lee Hatcher was a great historical romance read. I liked the characters and the plot of a woman in a man's role, but I just couldn't get into it. At times it seemed like it lacked depth. Overall, it was an enjoyable read and Hatcher's knowledge of mixing historical themes with romance was well done.

Two things I loved about this book: descriptive characters that came alive and the setting of this informative historical. Truly felt as if I was in the book, not just a by stander reading something on a page. Enjoyed the teaser of the next book in this series and eagerly look forward to the fall for the next installment!

While the storyline is typical for a western historical romance, I still found the characters fun and the plot enjoyable. Sure, it's formulaic--because it's supposed to be that way. But even though I knew it was supposed to have a happily ever after ending, I was never bored with the story. I get tired of the same old same old stuff and this was a really fun read for me. Not too fluffy and not too sweet. I literally enjoyed every page. In fact, I kept waiting to get bored and it never happened. The romance was the best part of the story because it seemed natural and believable to me, and not contrived. The dialog was also very well done. I felt like I was living in the town along with the characters. The author really knows how to crank up the romantic tension and bring a couple together in such a way that it will make you sigh when they finish kissing. I really enjoyed the historical aspect of the story with the whole women voting plot and the mayoral race. The hero was, of course, divinely heroic and a perfect match for the heroine. :) Overall this was a great read. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Robin's book was similiar to an earlier one she did, Catching Katie regarding theme and time period. I enjoyed the hero, but found it lacking in places.

Robin Lee Hatcher never fails to disappoint. A Vote of Confidence has delightful characters you find yourself cheering for. It is often difficult for women to be beautiful, intelligent & God-fearing & be taken seriously in today's society - but it was even more of a challenge in 1915. Yet Gwen Arlington does just that. Both she & her sister, Cleo, successfully navigate non-traditional occupations for women: politics and ranching. Spend some time in Bethlehem Springs with these courageous sisters - you'll be glad you did.

Books about women in politics are always intriguing to me. The ones that especially do are those that are set when women are the underdog during times when they are NOT supposed to be involved in politics. Gwen is setting up the new era of women in politics in the West and I'm glad that her campaigning was met with non violence and no roughness. I'm surprised at how well received she was in the town. Not because she was not a good candidate but because the town seems welcome to the possibility of having a female preside over them. She handled the situation very well and kept up her standards throughout the story. She actually knows why and how she will help the town out as opposed to other stories that I have read where the women run for office but have no platform. I enjoyed reading about her relationship with Morgan. There was very good chemistry between the two of them. Even though they felt attraction to each other, I was glad that both decided to stay in the race and not "drop out" in order to make the other happy. I thought his business of a spa was also very innovational for the time period. I was very impressed with the ending of the book. I was afraid that it would fall into the stereotype of the female falling back to the "traditional female" role of the time period. My only qualm is that Gwen's mother has not seen her OTHER daughter, Cleo in 20 years yet does not show any desire to see her at all. I can understand not wanting to see her estranged husband but it's very strange that she doesn't want to see her own daughter. The fact that it was never even brought up bother me a little. I'm hoping that this is talked about in the next book which focuses on Cleo. That being said, I thought this was a great story about frontier life, romance and the beginning of women's lib in the West. Robin Lee Hatcher has written another winner.

Robin Lee Hatchers newest release, A Vote of Confidence, is a tale of love that occurs when two opponents find adoration for one another in the small Midwestern town of Bethlehem Spring circa 1915. Guinevere Gwen Arlington is a trendsetter for her time period. Being well educated, well poised, intelligent, and self-sufficient Gwen decides she would make a fine mayor for the town she has come to love. Unbeknownst to her, Morgan McKinley also enters the race for mayor. Morgan is a newcomer to Bethlehem Springs who is building a fancy resort outside of the town limits. The banter that ensues between these two characters had me smiling throughout the entire story. I could almost envision the sparks that would enter Gwens eyes when Morgan would purposely antagonize her just to get such a reaction. From the very beginning, these two adversaries are drawn to one another despite their continuous efforts to convince themselves otherwise. Although the setting of this book is the early 1900s, the battle Gwen wages as a trendsetter for the women of her time is still relevant in todays world. Gwen sets out to hold a prestigious office that wields authority over men. Her argument to her 60+ yr old neighbor, who is opposed to Gwens run for mayor, is that the Bible clearly shows examples of strong women of faith and integrity, like Miriam: the sister of Moses, Deborah: a judge, Priscilla and Phoebe. Nearly 100 years later, these arguments are still being waged. Robin Lee Hatcher has once again brought us a historical romance that not only entertains but reveals Gods wisdom.

Robin Lee Hatcher is such a diverse writer. She encompasses so many different genres and her books are just a pleasure to read. One of my all time favorites books is Robin's book "Ribbon of Years" for the originality she uses in her writing style. A good example of women's fiction is her recent book "A Perfect Life", but "A Vote of Confidence" looked different than anything I had previously read by Robin so I was excited to see what it would bring to the table. Here again Robin shows her diversity in styles as she presents a book that takes us back in time and introduces us to a single woman in a time when women have the right to vote, but that is about it. Gwen gets challenged to run for mayor and even though it has never happened... anywhere... she decides to go ahead and run. The initial reason is that the only person running for mayor was the town drunk. At the same time that Gwen decides to run, another person throws their hat in the ring. He is a new person to the area and is trying to start a new business in the area. Lo and behold Gwen finds herself falling for her opponent. That can never work... can it?A fun read in the same vein as Deeanne Gist or Cathy Marie Hake... I really enjoyed this book - a new winner from Robin Lee Hatcher!

Robin Lee Hatcher paints an intricate portrait of Idaho small town life, circa 1915, in A Vote of Confidence, the first installment of The Sisters of Bethlehem Springs series. Gwen Arlington--young, beautiful, and headstrong--decides to run for mayor against the town drunk, Hiram Tattersall. Sparks fly when a third candidate, Morgan McKinley, throws his hat into the ring. Wealthy AND godly, McKinley has moved to Bethlehem Springs to build New Hope Health Spa but faces opposition from a shady county officer, who also happens to be Gwen's biggest supporter. Gwen and Morgan are attracted to each other, but their competition for the mayor's seat causes much romantic tension. Hatcher is a master at description, from the vivid period detail to the wide range of emotions of the lead characters. The plot takes many twists and turns on its way to a satisfying conclusion. Another winner from Hatcher, and I can't wait to read the next installment in this series.

A Vote of Confidence by Robin Lee Hatcher is the first book in the Sisters of Bethlehem Springs series. In 1915, Gwen Arlington is a modern woman. She lives on her own, making a living giving piano lessons, and she's running for mayor of Bethlehem Springs, Idaho. At first she looks like a shoo-in, but when a new man in town Morgan McKinley throws his hat in the ring as well, the election heats up. Morgan is building a spa on the outskirts of town, but some of the people in town don't support his plans, so at first he's running to help his business, but after he meets the beautiful Gwen, his mind is on far more that being mayor.Hatcher has a wonderful ear for dialogue, and the subplot of suspense moves the story along quickly. She does a great job of establishing several other characters who will be in future volumes in the series. It's a sweet romance perfect for a beach read or just escaping from the real world for awhile.
