P & R Publishing Addictions - A Banquet in the Grave: Finding Hope in the Power of the Gospel

In Addictions: A Banquet in the Grave Welch teaches that the hopelessness of the "sickness, recovery, relapse" cycle needs to be replaced with the biblical view of sin, salvation, and sanctification. The addict must face the fact that what and who he worships will control his life and that true freedom can only come through the cross. Paperback.

This book is right on. It completely brings hope back to our relationship and is a refreshing and hopefilled perspective. I already have to order another because I gave my copy away.

This is an absolutely powerful book on addictions. It is very insightful and offers the fundamental reasons why so many suffer and succumb to addictions of all kinds. A must read for those struggling with personal addictions, as well as those who love them!

The very best in biblical material relating to addictions. For years I searched for these kind of answers. The book is very similar to my own writing (which I began in trying to find some answer to the addiction that kept me in bondage for 20 years off and on). I've read the book three times and I am using many of it's excerpts for my book on addictions title "Turning to God from Idols".

Its an okay book. Its more of a theological type book than one that helps issues of the heart.

In my experience, running a home for young men trapped in addictions, this book has been the most powerful weapon, next to the Bible, in my hand. If the table were to be scraped clear of all books on the subject, this would be the only book I would love to see still standing. Thank you Ed! The Lord has used your book far and wide!

Looking for a way to gain freedom and partake in the promises of God in "setting the captives free?" Then Welch's book is for you. It is one of the most powerful books on this topic and I really appreciated that the author pointed me to Christ in every chapter. What a breath of fresh air!

Powerful! Ed Welch cuts through contemporary huministic thinking and shows us how to think Biblically about addictions. You'll understand more about the deceptiveness of our selfish desires than ever before. A must-have book for anyone struggling with an addiction or invovled in ministering to fellow fallen humans.
