Banner Of Truth Communion with God (Abridgement)
John Owen believed that communion with God lies at the heart of the Christian life. With Paul, he recognized that through the Son we have access by the Spirit to the Father. He never lost the sense of amazement expressed by John: "Our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ." In this outstanding book he explains the nature of this communion and describes the many privileges it brings.
Communion with God was written in a day, like our own, when the doctrine of hte Trinity was under attack and the Christian faith was being reduced either to rationalism on the one hand or mysticism on the other. His exposition shows that nothing is more vital to spiritual well-being than a practical knowledge of what this doctrine means.
Until now, Communion with God has been read by only small numbers of Christians with access to the 275 closely-printed pages in The Words of John Owen. Now Dr. R.J.K. Law has produced a splendidly readable abridgment of one of the greatest Christian classics of all time, bringing Owen's rich teaching to a much wider readership.

though I have not read the unabridged version, I found the abridge version very encouraging in my walk and was helpful in seeing the relationship in which God has with us through the Holy Spirit. Owens uses beautiful imagery from old and new testament to show God love for us.

I have often heard others talk about the Puritan writers - but this is my first to read! Being a Christian for many years, I have longed to have a more intimate relationship with the Lord - and have been greatly encouraged and blessed to read Owens thoughts all based on Scripture. My empty cup is being filled!!

The Bible of course has no comparison because we know that IT is God's own Word's inspired by The Holy Spirit. This book is the deepest most beautiful work of art I have ever had the joy to read and it grows with each gleaning. Spurgeon and Chambers writings are a part of my life, but this has opened a corridor that has been lost in Church teaching. For the true child of God in Christ, this encourages the soul to endure and persevere all till we sit at His feet and adore Him forever. so-In-love-w/JESUS, joel

This book is one of the best I have ever read. I highly recommend the Puritans anyway, but this particular book is abridged and updated making it much more readable. This book is an encouraging and faith building devotional for any Christian. You will learn much about the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and will find your soul lifted up in worship as a result. The Puritans loved God with heart and mind, and their writings have a beauty, depth and devotion lacking in our books today. I highly recommend this book.
