I'm a study bible fanatic, so I was pretty excited to get this. All the study notes are from Wesley's sermons, which I was not prepared for.
Otherwise, beautiful book, great quality, and in a translation I love. If you are a fan of Wesley, and know how to maneuver through his notes, then this is the book for you!

I just received my copy of the Wesley Study Bible (WSB) in the new Common English Bible translation (CEB).
This Bible has all the study helps of the previously released WSB New Revised Standard Version. The book introductions, text study notes, Wesleyan Core Term articles, Life Application Articles, indexes are all present in the new CEB edition. The study notes help clarify but do not overwhelm the text. Also, a CEB Concordance has been added and the font size is larger and better than the NRSV edition (also excellent).
I can't say enough good things about this Bible which incorporates current Biblical Scholarship along with a Christ-Centered Theological (Wesleyan) reading of the text. Truly this Bible will help Christians "Love God with a warmed heart and serve God with active hands". Wesley's comments and balanced emphasis on God's grace and the need for human holiness in life leap off the page.
The Common English Bible is a fresh, new translation made by over 118 biblical scholars from 22 denominations. It unites numerous faith traditions and is both accurate and readable. I would place its readability somewhere between the New Living Translation and the New International Version. In other words, it is not as free as the NLT and more readable and fresh than the NIV.
The only improvement I would recommend for the CEB Wesley Study Bible is to release it with a sewn, durable binding as was done with the NRSV edition. Otherwise, this is a great Bible.
As John Wesley said, "God himself has condescended to teach the way: for this very end he came from heaven. He hath written it down in a book. O give me that book! At any price give me the Book of God!"
