Faith and her brother Ben come to Oklahoma territory to start a new life with his young teenagers. Both are widowed and Faith is helping him with his family. She meets Gabe, who is generous with his help and loves her cooking. He has spent time in jail and suffers shame for it, believing he can never marry, although he was innocent of crime.
