Three woman find love in unexpected places and ways. Lorna Patterson is a widow returning to college after ten years, and not interested in finding another husband. But culinary novice Evan Bailey is a determined and persistent man, who won't take "no" for an answer. Can he get her to change her mind about re-marrying?
Shelia Nickels comes back to her hometown to pick out an antique doll after her grandmother offers all her granddaughters a treasure from her attic. Dismayed to find the doll missing, she and antique dealer Dwayne Woods fruitlessly search. Will Shelia be able to find the doll before it is gone forever?
Wendy Campbell thinks her father is the only man she needs in her life. But after he fakes 911 calls to get a certain paramedic Kyle Roger, to their home, will Wendy finally realize that she needs a life of her own?
As always, my gripe with Brunstetter is that her her stories are more like fairy tales; simplistic in language, bordering on unbelievable, and at times childish. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the stories in this book, but while many good books get you believe in the characters, Brunstetter just delivers a story. It is names, places and events put together, which I know will happen in a short story where things need to move very fast. While it is a nice collection of romances, it still falls flat like bread without yeast. I enjoyed it for what it was; an easy read with likable, (albeit fake) characters. A good book will make the line between fact and fiction blurry, if not obsolete. But all Brunstetter was able to accomplish is feel-good, trite romances that fail to draw you in and completely loose yourself.

I love it when you find a unique book that gives you more than what you were expecting and I find this in Wanda Brunstetter's novel, Love Finds A Way. This is a beautiful collection of three short romance stories that capture the essence of finding love in a wide variety of circumstances and offers hope when you think you have just about given up hope in finding love.
In the first story, Blueberry Surprise, we meet a widow, Loren Patterson who has spent the last year getting over the death of her husband Ron who was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. Now living with her in-laws, she has been working two jobs to make ends meet while she put her husband through medical school and now is trying to pay off all the medical bills. She has given up the prospect of finding love again and spends most of her evenings working as a waitress at Farmen's Restaurant in Seattle, Washington. Taking the advice of her friend Chris and her mother-in-law, Ann, she returns to college to pursue her own education at Bay View Christian College as a music teacher. Evan Bailey is doing the same thing with his own life since leaving the Airforce and is now looking to further his own education at Bay View as a child counselor and hopes to also someday find a sweet Christian wife. In the meantime, he spends his evenings sampling online recipes in hopes that adding cooking to his skills will make him a marketable husband. Will they find the perfect recipe for love?
In the second story, Grandma's Doll, Shelia Nickels has come to Casper,Wyoming as her Grandmother prepares to sell her house and move into Mountain Springs Retirement Center. She tells Shelia to visit her home one final time and take anything she wants from the house before it's sold and she knows exactly what she is looking for. As she heads to the attic to begin her search, she discovers the treasure she is searching for, is missing, a Bye-Lo baby that was her favorite when she visited her grandparents house as a young child. When she asks her Grandmother about it, she learns it was sold to The Older the Better Antique Shop across town now owned by Dwaine Woods. It just so happens that fate intervenes today when her grandmother asks Dwaine to stop by to appraise a piano she needs to sell and he and Shelia will discover that there are more than material treasures to be found if they are only willing to look hard enough. Will they discover the true treasures of the hearts?
In the final story in this novel, Matchmaker 911, Wendy Campbell is the town of Plumer's barber after taking over from her father, Wayne, who has succumbed to the effects of old age and severe rheumatoid arthritis and she finds herself wondering if a woman working in a predominately man's world is really such a good idea since having so many guys at the shop trying to make a play for her only made things worse. Now she spends her time caring for her father at home. But her father wants to see her with a man of her own to care for and a social life besides running the shop and caring for him. However when she hears a siren and realizes it stopping at her house, she panics knowing her father is at home. Kyle Rogers is the responding paramedic who helped her father out at the hospital before and what is finds when he arrives will be an adventure of a life time.
I received Love Finds A Way by Wanda Brunstetter compliments of Barbour Publishing and Net Galley for my honest review and I have to say I love books like this one. They have so much in them that you truly feel like you're getting a deal having three wonderful Christian romance stories all in one novel. Each one is unique and shows how God works in the details to bring healing, hope and love back into the lives of people who feel they have to accept things they way they are instead of something so much more. I rate this book a true 5 out of 5 stars!

There are three easy to read romances in this book, Blueberry Surprise, Grandma’s Doll and Matchmaker 911. Each story is set in modern times and they are all fun reads.
The first romance, Blueberry Surprise’s plot was a bit slow at times but once the main characters started interacting with each other the story really picked up. I liked how they met over food. You don’t read a lot of romances with this setting but the author did an excellent job making it believable.
The second romance, Grandma’s Doll follows the main character as she searches for an antique doll. I enjoyed the parts where they search for the doll. I found that interesting and the search is what kept the story moving quickly. The romance was cute and I liked how the main characters related to one another.
The final story, Matchmaker 911 revolves around a father and daughter and their different ideas of what her future should hold. I enjoyed this story because it moved quickly and had great characters. The plot was acceptable and the characters relationships is what made this story so interesting!
I gave this book 5/5 stars because each story was good and the book was a fun and easy read.
I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

3 Modern Romances

Date:January 22, 2012
This book has three stories:
Blueberry Surprise
Lorna Patterson was working two jobs and living with her in-laws. Her husband, Ron, had died one year earlier and she was struggling. She felt her life had no meaning. She was working a lot to keep her mind off her husband's death. She decided to make a change in her life and to attend college to finish the degree that she started years earlier. Her dream was to be an Elementary School Music Teacher. She put that on hold to get her husband through medical school.
In the Admissions Office at Bay View Christian College she literally ran into a very handsome guy. She was already feeling out of place because she was 32 years old. On the first day of classes she discovered that the very same guy, Evan Bailey, was in 2 of her classes. He was also a little older than the average college student. He outright told his classmates he wanted to get a degree in Psychology and find a wife. He really like Lorna and he pursued her. She continually put off all his gentlemanly advances. Can she get through college and the grief of her husband's death while she deals with Evan's constant annoying presence in her life?
Grandma’s Doll
Sheila Nickel's went to visit her grandmother in Casper, Wyoming. Her grandmother moved to a nursing home and Sheila was to pick out something from her house to keep. Sheila had one thing on her mind - the Bye-Lo doll that she played with as a child. She ending up meeting Dwaine Woods, who was an antique dealer in town. With his help, they went on a search for the doll. They encountered several leads, but they all ended up false. She did find love though, she was falling in love with Dwaine and he with her. She was sure a long distance relationship wouldn't work out, that's why her former fiance broke up with her. She headed back home to Fresno, California. She began questioned whether she would ever find her special doll and true love.
Matchmaker 911
Wendy Campbell was a barber. Her father was her partner until his arthritis became so bad he could no longer work. Her customers were getting on her nerves and she wasn't enjoying her life. Then she met Kyle Rogers. He got her thinking about God again. He was one of the paramedics that responded to a 911 call her father made. Kyle had met her father the week before. Wendy had no time for men in her life but her father thought differently. What lengths will her father go to get her dating?
These three stories are quick reads. Blueberry surprise was my least favorite. Evan's constant sense of humor would have had me walking the opposite direction from him. It was nice to see all the men who were the main characters wanting God to lead them in their romantic relationships. All three of the stories have the woman running away from love. I have always enjoyed Wanda Brunstetter's Amish romances. I wasn't sure if I would like this book. It was good but I prefer her Amish stories better.
I received a free copy of this e-book from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

This book consists of three short stories which makes an easy read. This is the first one of Wanda's books that is not about Amish and is a sweet book about modern day romances and troubles.
Blueberry surprise is about a young woman Lorna Patterson who had worked at least two jobs to send her husband through medical school but he dies she keeps working just to keep herself busy, even though she does not need to work that much anymore. She had always wanted to be a music teacher and had let her own education fall by the way side for her late husband. Now she is thinking about going back and starting life over and not in her in-laws home, where she had lived since she had been a widow.
Grandma's Doll is the second and like some of the other reviewers I too liked this one best. I am a Grandmother and I have always loved dolls. After Shelia Nickels' grandmother passed away she was going to pick that she wanted for herself from the attic and she choose an antique doll that she had loved to hold when she was growing up. The doll went missing and as she searched for it she met a young man from her past, now she though maybe she should not have come back to Casper.
Matchmaker 911 is the third story and it finds Wendy Campbell cuttin hair for a living and was so tired of hearding one joke after another. Wendy is not wanting a relationship but her father wants one for her. When she cut the hair of Kyle Rogers a young Chritian man she found out this is who her father wants her to date. He is a pramedic and she does not know if this is who she needs to date. Is she ready to settle down.
This book is an ok book but now what I expected from Wanda Brunstetter, I have all of her Amish books and this one is written well and the storied are good, but well when you hear Wanda E. Brunstetter you think of Amish. She and Beverly Lewis were the first authors that I read about the Amish people and that is like watching some of the actors on TV, Andy Griffith for one, you always see him as the sheriff of Mayberry no matter what else he played in and this is the way I see Wanda. I know there are so many Amish books out there now and new authors coming every day, but these two authors I will always see as writting Amish books,
Thanks so much to Wanda Brunstetter and Barbour Publishing for sending me a copy of this book and I choose to review it.

This is a collection of three contemporary romantic novellas:
Blueberry Surprise: Lorna decides to go back to college to pursue her dream of teaching, a dream she gave up to put her deceased husband through medical school. But she doesn’t count on the romantic interest of Evan, another student.
Grandma’s Doll: Shelia is back in town helping her grandmother, recovering from a broken engagement and trying to find the collectible doll she played with as a child with the help of local antique shop owner, Dwaine.
Matchmaker: Wendy has taken over her father’s barber shop, and has no interest in dating, despite the efforts of her matchmaking father to set her up with Kyle the paramedic.
The three stories were a nice quick read, but the conversations were a little stilted at times (too much awkward ‘God talk’ that didn’t read like normal conversation), and all were based on the ‘love at first sight’ plot. I personally prefer the ‘boy next door’ plot or a friendship that develops into love, as I think this is a better basis for a lasting relationship, and is a better example to set for young people in this age of divorce. The characters were all aged in their twenties, but the book felt more young adult than adult in tone and language. Love Finds a Way is Wanda Brunstetter’s first departure from Amish fiction. It will appeal to her fans as well as those who enjoy sweet fiction from authors such as Lori Wick.

I really enjoyed these 3 short stories, they are refreshing short and sweet treats I allowed myself. Grandma's Doll was my favorite... I am a sentimental doll lover.
These three young women learn to trust others and be open to what the Lord has planned for their futures.
