In her will, a grandmother stipulates that, in order to gain their inheritance, her four granddaughters must meet and create a quilt together a year after her death. Even though the girls' mothers have walked away from each other in anger, it's left to Carla, Zoe, Danni, and Eve to pick up the pieces of their broken family and make something beautiful out of the scraps that they've been given.
In "Patterns of Love" by Frances Devine, Carla's return to Colorado Springs lands her back in her memories of being an Olympic figure skating hopeful. Her former partner pressures her to take up where they left off in competition, but Carla is torn between what might have been, and what her new reality has become. And besides, there's the matter of her current (hopeful) love, Todd. Where does the future lead?
The second novella is "Unraveled Love" by Cynthia Hickey. In it, Zoe is driving to Colorado Springs when her old car breaks down along the road. As luck--or God--would have it, the tow truck driver that finds her is her long-ago high school sweetheart. If only she didn't need his help! But when he insists on seeing her all the way to their old stomping grounds, Zoe is going to need a dose of God's grace.
In "Stitched in Love" by Winter Peck, Danni has become a pro beach volleyball player--at least until she damaged her knee. She hates limping back to Colorado Springs to her mom's house--she's never been "good enough." But to her surprise (and dismay), her mom has left town and sent Danni's former boyfriend to pick her up. They'd parted ways when Trace left for the Army and Danni for the beach. But with Trace suffering from PTSD and Danni's own brand of suffering, is there any hope?
The final novella is "Designed to Love" by Marilyn Leach. Eve checks into the exclusive Broadmoor Hotel a week before her cousins arrive but, within hours, her handmade wooden box containing her quilt squares is stolen from her room. The hotel detective is on the case, but Eve is faster. Can he keep up with her? And when he does, can he catch her heart as well?
The four novellas that make up this collection are all fun reads with a slight twist. If you enjoy contemporary romance from a Christian worldview, check it out!
