Ray Vander Laan does a terrific job explaining the selection and nurturing of the first disciples by our Lord Jesus Christ. It is also a deeply personal admonishment to Christians today as to what it means to accept and follow Jesus. While we come up short and fail to meet expectations time and time again, He gives us time to continue trying to live and be like Jesus.

My Sunday School class has been watching and studying this entire series and we have thoroughly enjoyed it and have learned so much more than we ever have about Jesus. Seeing the places he actually walked and learning the history of the land and culture of the day brings the bible to life. It's such an incredible series, everyone should see it. My class is is going to be sad when we finish it. Have never seen anything to top this for a class, church or individual to watch and study to learn so much about the bible and biblical times and places.

Our Men's Bible Study group just finished this study in 'The Dust of the Rabbi'. We have viewed other DVDs in the Ray Vander Laan (Focus on the Family) collection and have enjoyed and learned much from each DVD. This particular DVD really created a great deal of discussion amongst the group. All the men in our group loved the presentation and all agreed that Ray Vander Laan is very passionate about his faith and the job we have been commissioned to do as followers of Christ, disciples making disciples. The questions that he asks all Christians at the end of session five is extremely powerful and really drives home the entire five session message. This DVD and the Participant's Guide was well received by all our men.

My husband and I have used this for teaching adult Sunday School. Easy to use and adaptable for small/large groups. Advice:Buy the Discovery guide! The DVD has a guide but it refers to the Discovery guide for questions/study.

We are using this study for a group of women who are at various points in their Christian walk (some just barely starting). So far, each person has found something valuable and the questions lead to some interesting discussions. This series works well for our mixed group.

This was the 1st of the Faith Lessons series by Ray Vander Laan that I saw and OH WHAT AN IMPACT IT HAD ON ME! I subsequently ordered all 10 DVDs and watch 1 lesson each morning. I cannot recommend these Faith Lessons on DVD highly enough!

The most significant result of this small group DvD study was that every one of us who followed this through, walked away challenged to be more like Christ. As a life long Christian it delighted me to learn new insights and ways of looking at things that spurred me on to greater things for God!

This DVD is by far my favorite in the entire series. I found that what I had thought I knew about being a disciple of Christ was sorely lacking and this video forever changed my understanding of the issue. In fact, the lesson on discipleship is so good that I also purchased the Discovery Guide, which I would highly recommend to anyone buying the Faith Lesson DVD's. This is a very powerful series of lessons and everyone should benefit from watching them!!

This DVD was really informative and gave me a good understanding of the context around some of the events in the Bible. Detailed yet not dry. Would be good for small group discussions. I am considering buying other DVDs in the series.
