I purchased 11 copies for my ladies bible study group because the study we are doing keeps refering to it. The women have raved about it with comments like, "It has thoroughly changed how I understand the 23rd Psalm." Excellent.........shoulld be required reading.
I got this book several years ago, and learned a lot from Mr. Keller's writing. His knowledge of the relationship between a shepherd and his sheep helped me see Psalm 23 in a whole new light. I recently bought several of these books to share with a ladies' Bible study group as we studied the names of God, one of which was Jehovah-Raah, The LORD my Shepherd. A great book that helps us understand that relationship in our daily lives.
I really appreciate the shepherd's take on Psalm 23. It helps to make this Psalm more personal and more understandable. The author relates to us as we really are- totally incapable of managing ourselves.
I have read this in the past and once again I have gleaned so much from this. I'm hoping to start a book study on this after the first of the year and wanted to provided the books for the ladies when they attend
Very good book. Short, simple, easy to understand. The writer, from his own personal experience as a shepherd correlates to Psalm 23. The analogies, explanations, insights & illumination are awesome! He walks us through the Psalm, drawing parallels to Psalm 23 & his life as a shepherd. Encouraging & faith inspiring! I will read other books by this author. He's good!
An excellent Bible study. Keller takes the actual duties of a shepherd in the care of his flock for correlating what is happening in the 23rd Psalm. Many people do not understand the responsibilities of a shepherd. God in his care for humankind performs the same acts of care and protection for those whom He created in His image. O how good and merciful is our Lord God. A good read for those who just made the commitment to the Lord and an eye-opener for those who have spent twenty plus years in a congregation without understanding the grace and mercy of God. Have read the book multiple times plus given as gifts to some who ask question but continue talking and miss the reply.
This book was recommended by my pastor so I bought several to share with some friends at church. We are thinking about using it as a study book in our women's mission group. It is so rich that I can only read a bit at a time and meditate on it!
This particular book is currently being used in my SS Class. It makes the Psalm so much more meaningful when you learn about the way a "good shepherd" would interact with and care for his flock. Having not grown up on a farm or even where sheep were raised, it was and is very enlightening!
