While some 6the graders may not be ready for this, the ones that I have worked with are. I did substitute Powerpoint presentations for some of the video clips from the internet that are mentioned in the book, but otherwise the girls are enjoying it.

My church recommended this book for our middle school small group Bible studies. I co-lead a group of 11 year old 6th grader girls. Although this book says it is for middle school girls ages 11-14, I feel like it is too mature for 6th graders. I'm sure 8th graders would find the topics and content relevant and challenging, but 11 year-olds are not there yet. The lessons encourage girls to think about life-goals, evaluate how women are portrayed on television, and consider the way boys think about how girls dress. All very appropriate topics for teenagers, but more than most 6th graders can handle, in my opinion. This curriculum also asks the leader to show video clips that come from PG-13 movies to illustrate points in the lesson.I do like the format of the lessons. There's a lot of creative ideas presented, including video clips, song lyrics, craft projects, games. I plan to revisit this curriculum in a couple of years when I feel my girls will most benefit from it.
