Have you ever wondered, “Does God really love me?” If so, you are not alone. Babbie has had those thoughts and she has been Christian most of her life.
She writes, “I believe we long to be with Him and desire to be loved completely by Him so that we will stay in His presence – where He desires us to be.” (13-14) Studying Scripture, Babbie came to understand that God loved her as He did His Son.
Babbie realized that this profound understanding of God's love would be meaningful to others so she wrote Embraced by God. In it, she explores the depths of God's love. She provides twenty one days of readings, sharing her experiences, insights, the secrets of her heart, and sometimes a song.
Babbie's book is a manual for developing a deeper love life with God. “There is absolutely nothing more important in the world than developing an intimate, life-changing relationship with Him.” (40) She reflects on seven aspects of our love relationship with the Lord:
God's passion for you is unconditional.
God's picture of you is beautiful.
God's presence in you is perpetual.
God's provision for you is immeasurable.
God's plan for you is exceptional.
God's power in you is accessible.
God's promise in you is incomparable.
She includes areas to consider and act upon and recommends using a notebook. She has practical ideas for people with low self-esteem, feel unloved, or try to fill up their loneliness with things.
Babbie quickly points out that God's unconditional, passionate love for us is not because we qualify for it. It is because of Jesus. He is our provision, our rest, and much more.

I liked her take on success: “Success is not in who you know, but in who knows you.” (276) And her “rubber band theology,” when you faith is stretched to the limit is when you will be launched the farthest in ministry. (326)
Babbie's prayer is that her readers will be changed as they realize God's passionate and complete love for them, that this book will increase their capacity to love Him and receive His love, allowing Him to impact every area of life.

I should not have been surprised by this book. I have been a fan of Babbie Mason’s singing voice for years. Now I am a fan of Babbie’s writing voice as well. Anyone who has gone through a long season of feeling as if God has forgotten about you will especially like this book. Babbie gently takes you through a journey where you literally wind up remembering that you are embraced by God.
Embraced by God is meant to be read as a 21-day devotional. Since I was reviewing this book I didn’t have the luxury of taking the whole 21 days to read and savor the content, but let me tell you, I was hooked from the beginning. The author has broken the book into seven themes or promises from God. Each promise builds on the one before it assuring you just how much God does love you.
Each day is set up with a personal devotional from Babbie. At the end of each daily reading is a section entitled Embrace Your Day. In this part you are led to think about, read about, pray about and be about His love. It is done in such a manner that you will find yourself lingering on the topic for the rest of your day.
I encourage everyone to pick a copy up and spend the next 21 days growing in the knowledge of God’s love.

Embraced by God: Celebrating Who and Whose You Are is a 21 day devotional. There are seven themes that are broken down into three days. Each theme covers a specific subject: God's Passion for You is Unconditional, God's Picture of You is Beautiful, God's Presence in You is Perpetual, God's Provision for You is Immeasurable, God's Plan for You is Exceptional, God's Power in You is Accessible, God's Promise in You is Incomparable, and then The encore: A Legacy of Love.
I don't know which theme or day was my favorite. I loved it all. Just reading about how much God loves me and thinks I'm beautiful and His favorite... I was overcome. Sometimes we women need to hear from our Heavenly Father those very things and Babbie has certainly been His voice to our eyes and ears and hearts.
Each day ends with an Embrace. Here I had the opportunity to pray about what I read, think about what He was saying to me, and read a scripture about the particular topic that was covered. I also was encouraged to apply it to my life.
Embrace by God is a wonderful devotion for women of all ages. Though there really isn't anything new being said here, Babbie has brought the love of the Father for His daughter forth in a clear, warm, embracing manner.

Embraced by God: Celebrating Who and Whose You Are, written by Babbie Mason, is the perfect book for any woman wanting to have a closer relationship with the Lord.
The book walks you through 21 days of learning about the Lord and how much He loves you. The author suggests finding a spot where you can be alone and feel comfortable singing or praying out loud. It is not necessary but it will help you speak out loud some of the promises and therefore better write them on your heart.
There were so many wonderful lessons to take away from this book. One of my favorites was learning to openly talk to the Lord. As the author puts it, He knows you better then anyone, even your closest family and best friends. Make sure you tell Him everything that is on your heart. He is the perfect One to tell as He loves you so much and wants to help guide you through any trial.
The Lord has a purpose for you and wants you to accept who you are in Him so He can guide your steps. The author not only teaches this lesson but also provides personal examples to help you better understand how the Lord works in our lives. We do have to be open to the Lord’s love or we can not grow closer to Him.
I found this book to be written in an open and loving style. If you or someone you know is a woman hurting and needing the love of the Lord, this book is perfect. You will feel His love from the many verses shared and more importantly, learn how to accept His love. An excellent book and a must read for all woman!

It’s time that women stop falling for the media hype about what makes them valuable in our society, but it is difficult to get around the billboards, magazine advertisements and television shows marketing the value of appearance over everything else. Women are led to believe that love is based on the way their clothes fit their frame or how they wear their hair or how smooth their skin is. But God places value and worth in who we are and how He created us.
If you’ve ever thought about whether God loves you or if you really matter to Him, then following the 21 day journey in “Embraced by God” by Babbie Mason will lead you to a better understanding of what it means to be loved by God. There are seven themes each consisting of three days (chapters) which are filled with scripture and Mason’s personal accounts as they pertain to each day’s subject.
The “Embrace Your Day” at the end of each day offers the opportunity to think about God’s love, read about God’s love in the scripture, pray about God’s love and be about God’s love. Following Mason’s guidelines will demonstrate how very much God actually does love you, that you are in His eternal plan and that you are His favorite.
“Embraced by God” reads like a conversation between two friends. Mason’s warmth and compassion shine through as she demonstrates how to celebrate who we are and whose we are. While the media wants women to believe they should look and act a certain way to be valued, Mason wants to show them that God accepts them just the way we are because He created them.
The need of women to be valued and loved is the focus of “Embraced by God” and Mason’s sensitivity leads women to understand who they are and what their purpose is.
Babbie Mason is a Dove Award-winning and Grammy nominated gospel singer, songwriter, author, creator of the Embrace: A Worship Event for Women ministry, professor of songwriting at Atlanta Christian College and Lee University, and a television talk-show host. She was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2010 and has appeared on numerous national television and radio programs. Babbie has been honored to perform for Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Lady Margaret Thatcher, Colin Powel, Steve Forbes among many others. She lives near Atlanta on a farm with her husband Charles.
