Hoekema attempts to set forth what the Bible teaches about the nature and destiny of human beings. He has based his study on a close examination of the relevant scriptural material. The theological viewpoint is that of evangelical Christianity from a Reformed or Calvinistic perspective. The other two books in this compendium of doctrinal studies include: Saved by Grace, and The Bible and the Future.

Dr. Hoekema has written a book which can help any believer understand the concept of being created in God's image. After presenting biblical teaching and historical views of this concept, he discusses how man's fall into sin affects the whole man. This book must be read carefully to understand certain ideas, but the reader will come away with a better understanding of the biblical teaching of being created in God's image. Too, the reader should know that Dr. Hoekema writes from a Reformed perspective. His book can help any Christian to better understand what it means to be created in the image of God.
