Audio Memory Audio Memory States & Capitals Songs Poster & CD Set

Help children easily learn the names and locations of the fifty states and their capitals with the catchy music of Audio Memory!

States & Capitals Songs includes 10 songs and 4 test songs which teach children the states by region: the northern border, the southern border, the eastern border, the middle and the Pacific states. After students learn the states, they learn the capitals in the same order; during the test, they have to remember both the name of the state and the capital as they move from west to east. Songs are different, and repeated with a pause before the answers are provided, allowing students to self-test their knowledge. This map is numbered in the same order that the locations are sung in the songs, making it easy to locate the locations while you are singing. Students can color the map while they listen to the songs. The lyrics of the songs are on the map, making it easy for students to point to locations while they sing.

This kit includes:

  • Audio CD
  • 25" x 36" map of the USA with 172 items to label

This material is not creative at all. I was expecting something like the review says it is. The music is not something your kids will want to sing and dance to, it's actually pretty boring! I was very disappointed. One "song" is actually just a man saying some of the states. I like the big map that it comes with, however it is a very poor black and white copy. The dots on the map to signify capitals or other important places in the State look exactly the same, making it hard to understand what is what. Just a total let down.

The first song about the states and capitals repeats with them leaving out some of the words. My kids try to say the words and ahve fun with it. It is super cheezy. WE only listen to the first half about states and capitals. It has definitely stuck in our heads and they know them all know. The other songs just about the states seem sort of pointless because they don't help at all unless they are looking at the map (which it is designed for). The songs take states in a row. For example, all the northern states, the states along the eastern border working your way up. If they are used in conjunction with the map that comes with it, then it can be very valuable. But we think only the states and capitals songs are bearable. The states songs are annoying and not very creative. I would still recommend it, because like I said, they learned all their capitals and will walk around humming the first 5 or 6 songs.

We used this as a cassette over 20 years ago in our homeschooling program. My then 6-year-old son learned all his states and capitals and in what regions and order. My then 9-year-old daughter learned them as part of her curriculum, but this recording solidified her memory of them. I ordered a new CD set as I now have grandchildren who will be homeschooled. I lost my previous set after loaning it to a piano student who was having difficulty learning states and capitals. Thank you for this great way to learn!

I find it completely corny, but catchy. My kids love it! Even my 4 year old asks for it when it is her turn to pick the music. And I loved it when my 2 year old sang "Boston Massachusetts" in his 2 yr old way over and over. He is even listening. My 8 year old randomly has come up to me to tell me capitals of states. She's proud and having fun, a great buy.

I used this cd with my oldest daughter, and we LOVE this cd. The tunes are fun to listen too. You can't help but learn with this cd whether you want to or not. You will find yourself repeating it also...over and over. My twins love it and used it to pass their test at school. Even now that testing is over, we find ourselves singing the songs.

My children (age 8, 6, 3 1/2, 1) love singing these songs. It is a wonderful, catchy way for them to learn these facts. Some adults might find the songs a bit annoying but the children love them. The product comes with a big map to color and label. Singing the songs and looking at the map give the children a picture of the country and the geography. If your children like to sing this a fun way to teach them and will stick with them. 20 years ago I learned all the states in a song and I still remember the song and so I imagine my children will remember their states and capitals.

Wonderful way to learn our states and capitals! We've been singing them everywhere we go and the kids really enjoy singing and dancing while learning. After we learn the song, the kids get their crayons out and color in the states they know. This was a great buy!

Not as good as Geography Songs - but certainly better than Grammar Songs. An "ok" way to teach younger ones.

This CD is great! The songs are catchy and my kids love it! My first grader knows all her states and their capitals just by listening to it in the car. A must have! A great refresher for Mom too!
