It's all in a person's perspective -right?! From our family's standpoint, these songs are a "must" as part of our home educating endeavors. We lost/ruined our previous copy & thus re-ordered our copy per request of our children. They sang the songs from memory while we did not own a good copy. If my children remember states & capitals from what one reviewer calls a "disappointment", then I call it success. Although, we agree with the reviewer who labels this CD as "catchy".

My children are quite pleased to be able to play the familiar State/Capital songs once again. Our package was opened immediately upon it's arrival at our doorsteps. Smiling children are now listening to this CD as well as to the Geography CD of the same company.

We used this as a cassette over 20 years ago in our homeschooling program. My then 6-year-old son learned all his states and capitals and in what regions and order. My then 9-year-old daughter learned them as part of her curriculum, but this recording solidified her memory of them. I ordered a new CD set as I now have grandchildren who will be homeschooled. I lost my previous set after loaning it to a piano student who was having difficulty learning states and capitals. Thank you for this great way to learn!

The first song about the states and capitals repeats with them leaving out some of the words. My kids try to say the words and ahve fun with it. It is super cheezy. WE only listen to the first half about states and capitals. It has definitely stuck in our heads and they know them all know. The other songs just about the states seem sort of pointless because they don't help at all unless they are looking at the map (which it is designed for). The songs take states in a row. For example, all the northern states, the states along the eastern border working your way up. If they are used in conjunction with the map that comes with it, then it can be very valuable. But we think only the states and capitals songs are bearable. The states songs are annoying and not very creative. I would still recommend it, because like I said, they learned all their capitals and will walk around humming the first 5 or 6 songs.

I find it completely corny, but catchy. My kids love it! Even my 4 year old asks for it when it is her turn to pick the music. And I loved it when my 2 year old sang "Boston Massachusetts" in his 2 yr old way over and over. He is even listening. My 8 year old randomly has come up to me to tell me capitals of states. She's proud and having fun, a great buy.

I used this cd with my oldest daughter, and we LOVE this cd. The tunes are fun to listen too. You can't help but learn with this cd whether you want to or not. You will find yourself repeating it also...over and over. My twins love it and used it to pass their test at school. Even now that testing is over, we find ourselves singing the songs.
