OakTara Unto the Least of These

Young Ricky has just been murdered. And his cousin, ten-year-old Jody, was right in the living room when it happened. But there's a problem. The witness has cerebral palsy, and he can't talk. Yet he holds the big clue to the attacker's identity.

It's up to a quirky, newly licensed private detective, Priscilla Perle, to solve the crime...with Jody's help and her unusual methods. Especially since this is the second Lindler child to be murdered in the mansion.

Priscilla Perle is out of private eye correspondence school, and ready to tackle life's mysteries, most particularly the baffling case before her. She must prevail in order to prove herself! Due to the murders of two innocents within the same walls and the same family, something is sadly awry. The local police can't put their finger on it, but then they don't have the power of prayer and a peculiar hunch on their side, either. Priscilla is full of faith, but has no such deadly evil lurking about her own domicile, unless you count a lethal threat to her adopted felines. Pick this one up for a quick read, a sinister plot to unravel, and a laugh just when you need one. You'll come away with a new respect for the compassion and skill of newcomer, Mrs. Perle, Private Eye.

Ms. Pickrell uses her very fine writing skills to put together a strongly Christian murder mystery. The characters are finely drawn from her experiences and put together a disabled young boy with a spirit driven mail-order detective. The story winds through human psychology and spiritual beliefs to deliver a bang of an ending. If you like a pervasive mystery with a quirky detective, this is a great read.
