Though the formatting of the teacher and student books are all black and white, the font is easier to read--both because of its size and style. For each lesson, the headings are bolded and it's easy to read the lesson prep quickly. Each lesson includes sections for preparation (supplies to gather, etc.), vocabulary, a song or poem, activity, notebook, Bible reading, review, and digging deeper activities. For some of the lessons, there is also an evolution stumper. You may or may not want to use this part of the lessons. I am probably going to call them something more along the lines of Creation Time Questions.
Most of the supplies for the lessons aren't expensive or unusual, but there are some supplies that you'll need to gather, like rock samples. I'd suggest that you either skim through all of the lessons before you use the curriculum and make a supply list for the year or that you read ahead a few weeks as you go through the year and make sure you have the supplies you'll need.
This is a notebooking curriculum, but you'll need a student book for each student. They're very affordable, which is a blessing. The teacher's guide and 1 student book cost $30 and an extra student book will cost $14 on CBD. This is not a reproducible curriculum, so you do need to purchase a student book for each student, rather than copying the pages you want for each student from the student book that comes with the teacher's guide.
As I read through the lessons, I was pleased with this curriculum. There 36 lessons, so I would suggest a minimum of a year for this curriculum. Some of the lessons have multiple parts, so they will probably take longer. You could spread this curriculum over a year and a half (and then use The Nature Connection for the other 6 months). You could also break it up and use a portion each year along with another science curriculum. This is a curriculum that is best for grades 2nd-7th. That is what the publisher recommends and I agree with that estimate. First graders are struggling to write still and are learning to read so the reading/writing for these lessons would be much easier for them come second grade.
This curriculum would be a great break from a secular science curriculum if that is what you're using. It would help you point your children to God through creation--which secular science curriculums don't do. What I also like about it is that the lessons touch on a wide variety of science topics. It is as if students are given a taste to whet their appetites to learn more.
This is a curriculum I look forward to using with my children. I have chosen to use a secular curriculum because of how great the textbooks are--age appropriate reading text, good comprehension questions, instant activities, and they've been easy to use. So far, the curriculum I use also hasn't delved into evolution or the origin of the world so I haven't had any major issues with it. But, I do want to make sure my children have a deep appreciation for what God has created and for who He is. I look forward to using this curriculum for these reasons.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this curriculum for review from Eagle's Wings Publishing.

This is a good biblical science curriculum. My kids (ages 10 & 6)
have enjoyed this book. Some of it has been a little boring for my 6 year old but overall we have enjoyed this curriculum.
I think that next year we'll try Apologia for our science.

I really enjoy Considering God's Creation, as well as my children. They look forward to science which is a blessing. It feels so good to have God's Word back up what is taught in the lessons.

I was a bit disappointed by this item. The best part of it were the worksheets and student text that go with each lesson- they were excellent and original. However I found that the book covers a lot of science, but not in great depth. If you prefer to study slowly and deeply at each topic, I don't think this will work for you. The teacher guide does have a lesson laid out for you but I wanted to teach my children more content. I did not feel CGC covered each topic sufficiently. Even with the "going deeper" suggestions it was a broad sweep of science. We prefer to study one area more slowly, we go into major detail- so I guess this just is not the right pick for us.

I have to say, I have absolutely loved this year with this workbook! I am teaching my 9, 11 and 13 year old with this book and everyone has had so much fun and learned so much. True, it's a bit childish for the 13 year old...(all that cutting and pasting) but he has not complained and enjoys seeing the finished product. He is a huge science buff, so he is not bothered in the least. I have to say, having the finished workbook to keep for themselves and look through and read to their siblings has been great. And the little ones are so anxious to start their own workbooks now...so just as soon as they are both reading, we'll being doing this workbook again. I have to say, I can't wait. (wish I could've done one, they look like fun!)

Though we have only begun our school year, we absolutely love this science program! The songs are fun and we have made up our own hand movements to them. The way it uses the scriptures, and then hands on activities is a great way to engage my daughter who loves to cut and paste and sing, and now that she can read, she loves looking up the scriptures herself and reading!

I am very pleased with this versatile and scripturally sound science curriculum. My son was so excited that he didn't want to wait for "school" to start in August, he wanted to start studying immediately. That is the power of teaching your child how to learn and teach themselves...they'll know a good book when they see it! Thank you for the good curriculum.

I just received this in the mail just recently, and though I won't be actually using it until next year for my 2nd grader, I do have to say that a friend of mine uses this for her children and after thumbing through hers, I was sold. It seems very simple and easy to use for the parent, and I plan on including my K-5 son in on the activities too. Like I said I haven't used it just yet, but I'm very excited to get started on it next year. What a GREAT way to help our children see GOD in all of his wonderful creations!!!!

This is so awesome! I like this because it made me the teacher excited about science! It has clear lay out of teaching material, you can read it from the book or read ahead and discuss it. My son loves the Evolution stumpers that it has as well. The beginning may seem weak but as you go the detective forms help the student to analyze the information in a really clear and precise format. The activities that the student book provide are excellent and we have found them useful for study and encouraging more learning in certain areas. The suggestion of going to NASA for learning answers to questions about planets brought a whole new area of learning for my son. I give this a five star rating because it really has made Science exciting and something I want to teach more of!
