A very excellent first hand account of Mr. Smith's(no relation) journey through the New Age movement and the attractions that it holds. It is not so much teaching about the New Age movement as much as it is a telling of his life as a spiritual seeker and the path's he followed. He also tells of the spiritual attacks that he and his wife were under due to opening themselves up to the other side of the spiritual realm, and their ultimate victory through the power of Jesus' name. This book is so well written that I read it in one sitting.

After having an experience with New Age Medicine, my husband started studying it to find the origin of this movement that is sweeping Christian circles, because it is "natural" and it "works" (So Does Magic!). We were recommended to read Warren Smith's book, "Deceived on Purpose". While pulling it up this book came up as well. Our experience with Applied Kinesiology, aka "muscle testing" was on the fringe, while Warren Smith was hard core New Age. Needless to say, neither one of them is good and should be avoided at all cost. Both he and his wife, Joy, were sincere in their search, albeit, they were sincerely wrong. Praise the Lord, we have a God who looks on the heart. They had to go the path they did to fully see the error of their way. This is a must read. It gave me light into those that are traveling the path that they traveled to realize the baggage that comes with them. It also shows me that a Born Again Christian has no business even flirting with New Age anything.

This book described situations very similar to what I personally have experienced and it helped me to realize I am not crazy. Evil is real and only Jesus can save us!

Great little book. If you ever wanted to peek into the occult to get an idea of how cunning the dark side is, this is the book for you. If you have any family or friends who are intonew age or emergent type churches it's a great tool to share with them.

This account of Warren Smith's experiences in his pursuit of meaning and direction is an interesting story. I found it easy to read and at times very descriptive of the beauty of Northern California and even comical as he described events with the "Rolling Mystery School". There is valuable information about the subtle way the New Age philosophy is being introduced to a greatly unchurched population. On the other hand, I didn't find it to be as deep an expose' as I was seeking. I am glad the book is out there because we need to be aware of the "leaven" that is being introduced to our society with very little opposition. This book is helpful for that purpose. It is not a deep expose' of New Age deception but it is one man's experience and worth the read.
