gogurtmomMid-WisconsinAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Hands down, the best book I've ever read.December 10, 2010gogurtmomMid-WisconsinAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have always been an avid reader. A friend suggested this book to me and I was not quick to agree to read it. I didn't think I'd like the WWII setting. After the first few chapters the author ties the lives of the characters together, and I was hooked. I learned things I did not know I still needed to learn. My life was changed...and that does not often happen with a historical fiction book. This book, and the series, are wonderful...and this book inparticular holds it's place as my favorite all-time book!

Lynn5 Stars Out Of 5Vienna PreludeDecember 5, 2015LynnQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I read four or five titles in this series back in 1985-86. I was mesmerized by both the characters and the movement of the story. I developed a deep longing to go to Austria and for a long time that is all it was, a longing. I had long since misplaced the books in one of my many moves but never forgot it. Then in 2003 a fellow nurse asked me to go to Vienna, Austria as well as Prague. Czechoslovakia with her as her roommate with a group of nurses going through local Saint Anslem's College nursing program that every year travels with a group of nurses somewhere in the world and combine the tour with a nursing learning experience which is given before the actual tour here in NH. For the Vienna/Prague trip the focus was music as a healing tool. We discussed this theraphy modality before leaving and while there went to museums, historical castles, in Vienna we saw an orchestra and in Prague we saw an opera. It was a dream come true, a dream I never would have even had if I hadn't read this book.

Rose5 Stars Out Of 5March 4, 2007RoseI love the Zion Covenant series! Vienna Prelude was a great book and once I started, I just couldn't stop :) It was intensely well-written with a gripping plot; the characters were all 'real' and I've learned a lot about WWII and the Holocaust. Awesome book.

Cookie5 Stars Out Of 5A gripping storyMay 31, 2011CookieQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I am very fond of History, and this story, a fiction with such a realistic background looks so real as we know these dark events happened not so long ago... Like it says, it allows reader to "discover the truth through fiction". A book for everyone to be read, as anti-Semitism is growing up again. I couldn't give up until the very last page !
The questions at the end of the book "Digging deeper" is a good opportunity to teach kids or young people who are often ignorant of that period of time and make them facing the right questions. -
