I chose Hermie, A Common Caterpillar because of my sons, ages 6 and 3. I know that this children's book will interest them. Also, I've read and loved the works of the author, Max Lucado. Surely, my children will love him, too!

The story revolves around Hermie and his friend Wormie, who are envious with the appearance and characteristics of other insects. They always compare themselves with other insects. But because they have God in their lives, He always assures them that He is not yet finished with them yet and that He has special plans for them. In the end, the two friends learned to accept themselves for what they are and finally knew what God's plan is. The message of the book is clear: Each one of us is special! God has plans for each and every one of us, we just have to wait for it.

Hermie, A Common Caterpillar has wonderful illustrations that are colorful and enticing to the eyes. It is also well-written and easy to read and understand. The children and I enjoyed the book. And what's more important is that they learned a valuable lesson with this book. I highly recommend Hermie, A Common Caterpillar.

Kudos to Max Lucado on this book. I actually picked it up @ a local thrift store as my 14 month old daughter loves to be read to; When we read it that night she sat through the entire book without moving. we love the concept of the book.

Great little book !! I bought it for a little boy I had recently met & felt he needed something to go with the Hermie plush toy I had given him. He had no clue who Hermie was, so this explained it to him, he sat while I read the book to him, but HE had to turn the pages. He really enjoyed it & hopefully it will instill some faith in him & let him know that he is loved & everyone is special. Wonderfull first book for a little one. Good quality, hard board book for little hands. Well worth the money spent. I've never gone wrong shopping at CBC Thank You !!
