For five bucks it is a good buy. A fairly good history of the English Bible. The DVD began with Wycliffe, even though there were others around that time that also translated parts of the Bible into Engish (Anglo) that should have been mentioned. The DVD did relate Luther(ism) and the reformation into the translating efforts quite well. I was disappointed that it ended so quickly after Tyndale. No mention was made of Coverdale, Rogers, the Great Bible, the Geneva Bible, the Bishops or KJ. But for a brief, quick history, it is okay.

I have viewed this DVD 4 times now. I purchased it first because of the price, and second because I wanted to learn the story of the English Bible. I know some of the Protestant Reformation and some of the characters of it. Familiarity with Martin Luther is strongest in my mind. Along with this video, I also got a DVD on Martin Luther and one on John Hus. I had heard the name of Hus, but nothing else about him. This production also introduced me to John Wycliffe and his role in making the English Bible. I had not heard of John Wycliffe prior to this and only the name of William Tyndale. When I can afford it, I hope to get a DVD on John Wycliffe. But, for now, I am content to know that he translated the Vulgate (Latin) into English. But, he did this before Guttenburg invented the movable type printing press. And the Roman Church was so "mired in superstition and dogma, even the priests and nuns were ignorant about the Bible." This is a short video (just under an hour) in length, but it doesn't feel rushed at all. This DVD was made from an earlier tape video (just the opening screen will attest to that). This was probably produced in the early 1970's, if I had to guess. I am glad I purchased it when I did; it is worth every penny I paid for it!

This is a good one if you want a short but informative study on the origins of our English bible. For the average person or for small group studies it is great.

We showed the video to a bunch of friends after a Bible Study. I liked the video very much. Much of the information I already knew from history or other videos. My husband thought it was a little dry. I only asked one other person what they thought and she said she liked it very much.

Wow....I bought this because it was on a major sale, and I'm always looking for videos to use in my Sr. High Sunday School class for weeks when I need a sub.
I ended up showing it in Sunday School right away, because it fit PERFECTLY into our study of the reformation! This is in documentary form, so it's a lot of talking to listen to, but it's only about 54 minutes long, and is a wealth of information on not only the study of where we got our Bible, but of church history as well!

I greatly enjoyed this video. I consider this one of the best purchases I have made for my DVD collection. It is a very good overview of how we got our English Bible.

This was a great product. I would recommend it to the whole christian world. Especially those who believe in "Sola Scriptura". I learned a great deal and it provided me with more in depth insight on what I previously learned about the english Bible. GOD be praised.

This video presentation moves rather slow but ends abruptly and could have covered a lot more material.
