Blessed in Vegas5 Stars Out Of 5Power in PraiseNovember 22, 2014Blessed in VegasQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My friends and I are just discovering this treasure! Written in the early 70's, it has the distinctive feel of the Jesus movement of that era. I came to know Christ in 1976 so the book takes me back to that simpler time. However, I had never read any of Merlin Carother's books and I marvel that I missed the avalanche of reaction that resulted from this man's simple insights and practices.
Power in Praise is a sort of sequel to Mr. Carother's first book: Prison to Praise. It presents the theology behind the practice of praising God for everything; the bad as well as the good. I approached it cautiously but by the time I was halfway through it, I was drawn in and agreeing with the wisdom and practicality of thanking our Creator and Source of all temporal and eternal workings on our behalf, regardless of our less than joyful circumstances. It is so basic and yet profound. The message is that God is free to work wonders in our lives when we express our faith in Him through praise in and for ALL things. Yes, He is always free to work but there is a spiritual dynamic involved when we give glory in all circumstances because the Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. There is a measure of faith resulting in genuine trust that is necessary in order be thankful in the worst of times. 1Thess 5:16 - 18 is the primary Scripture used by Mr. Carothers along with Romans 8:28. I highly recommend this book, it can be life-changing! -

It was very helpful and informative for my family and I. Praising God for everything is the way to go.
Now if only we can get God back into public schools, there has been a drastic decline in moral behavior since the Dear Heavenly Father was banned from public schools in 1962, we would not have the problems that we have in society today. -
Lilly Bigelow5 Stars Out Of 5December 15, 2007Lilly BigelowExcellent message and a new - yet Biblical way - to deal with the problems of life. Faith and trust are acts of Will that will be rewarded when we actually "let go and let God" through praise.
