David C. Cook The Children's Bible in 365 Stories

All the stories in this book--one for every day in the year--come from the Bible. Not everything in the Bible could possibly have been squeezed into this book, so the author Mary Batchelor picked out the most exciting stories and the best-loved ones. The Bible shows what God is like, and because God never changes and human nature stays the same, the Bible is always up-to-date. With paintings by John Haysom, this updated, revised, and understandable paraphrase features a Bible story for each day with a text based on the Good News Bible. It has 416 pages, and measures 6 3/4 inches by 9 3/4 inches. Recommended for ages 8 to 12.

I was looking for a book of Bible stories that my 8 and 9-year olds could read with mom and I. I wanted a comprehensive storybook and not one with a few or the most popular stories. I preferred one with good art. This edition fits the bill nicely. The stories are engaging and well written, and the copious art is nicely rendered and printed. Since we wanted a book to encourage the kid's reading and to reinforce their familiarity with Bible stories, we weren't overly concerned about some criticisms of doctrinal deviations we read about here. Our family studies the Bible itself, and this book is not intended to be instructional as much as devotional. We talk together and can clarify any points of doctrine that this book may throw into question. All in all, reading these stories as they are doesn't cause much conflict in our children's minds, and we don't see the need to nit pick.
My only criticism of the book itself is the cheap-ish binding. I would hope a book like this could be a keeper and passed down, but at the low price, I suppose it is all that could be expected.

I got this book to use with MOPS-Mothers of Preschoolers-for the children. It has stories that hold the children's attention and has colorful pictures that reinforce the stories.

I really like this Bible. It has some of the stories seldom found in children's Bibles. It's well-written, and the word choice is very good for a young elementary student.

A beautiful, accurate, and text identified Bible for little ones. It's perfect for nightly Bible reading as part of a bedtime routine. They will learn more of God's character and love as they hear more than the traditional Sunday School stories.

This is the best story Bible on the market. It doesn't just retell Bible stories it follows the chronology of the Bible. My husband and I found ourselves learning basic information about the Bible that we didn't know as we read to our daughter every night when she was little. This is a Bible story book that prepares children (and parents!)to become readers of the Bible. I put Mary Batchelor's Bible story book on my gift list to give to all of the significant children and their parents in my life.
